World Wrestling Entertainment announced this afternoon that former WWF star Cpl. Kirchner (Thomas Spear), passed away of natural causes Sunday in his home in White Marsh, Maryland.
Kirchner had a short run in WWF from 1985 to 1987, replacing Sgt. Slaughter as a patriotic character for the company. He later had a long run in Japan for different companies, including FMW and IWA, working under a mask as Leatherface (and was also billed as Super Leather).
Several years ago, his mother, Genevieve O'Callaghan wrote a fictional book "Corporal Punishment" which was inspired by events in Kirchner's career.
