Summer is finally here, which means lots of summer blockbusters! We just released Hunted #4, an issue which is amazing fans all over the globe. Hot on its heels is the next installment of favorite "The Ruthless." When we last left off, the Witch Hunters (originally found in the Yelena series) are still doing everything they can to find Yelena. They hear that Stacia (The Ruthless) has been in contact with Yelena, and knows of her whereabouts. But no one can find Stacia. Except, of course, Mae Collins, her trusted shrink. And what happens when the Witch Hunters get ahold of Doctor Collins? Tsk tsk...poor ole' gal.

It's amazing to think we're on issue #11 already. The series has taken some crazy turns, and this one's no different. This issue brings you the same level of intense tickle torture found in earlier installments.

It's a shame all of these great series' became interconnected. One can't enjoy one series without feeling like they're missing some piece of the story by not buying the others. Even the long time favorite "The Agencies" fell victim to The Ruthless, so to speak.

It's a shame all of these great series' became interconnected. One can't enjoy one series without feeling like they're missing some piece of the story by not buying the others. Even the long time favorite "The Agencies" fell victim to The Ruthless, so to speak.

Writing a continuous storyline among varying adult tickling comic books spanning multiple timelines is a pretty serious endeavor. After listening to reader feedback for several years, we found that our readers generally fell into 3 camps: those who truly enjoy a strong storyline with good character development, those who will enjoy the comics as long as the story/characters aren't totally ridiculous, and those who could care less about story and just want great tickle action.

Our storylines try to please all 3 groups. If you just like good tickling action with beautiful artwork, we have incredible artists bringing these books to life, and you're covered there. We aim not to let the story get in the way of tickle action, which is always of primary importance. And if you love an involved storyline, or are neutral to the notion, we have a lot of story to share. We try to set up each series so if you only ever bought The Ruthless #1 - #11, you would know what's going on. Having said that, and to your point, if you've been following the Yelena series, then you already have a backstory and context for what the Witch Hunters are, and their agenda. While that's interesting to know, our intention is that you don't have to know this in order to just enjoy The Ruthless series for what it is. But for those readers that want to know every detail of this comic universe, I think it's fun there's a lot of it to explore if they choose.

If our readers are just buying The Ruthless series and are totally lost, then that's our fault as storytellers, and we have to do a better job. Even though we're trying to accomplish a lot with the story, we still have to execute well on all fronts, and we can't become lazy. In order to combat this, Jon and I edit each other's scripts, and I also edit Munchausen's scripts, as well. We rely on reader feedback to let us know when we haven't quite explained something as clearly as it should be explained!

On that point, Jon had a great idea to include Encyclopedia entries for Hunted. They're just little character bios or explanations of facets of the world so the reader can get to know it better. Purely optional to enjoy the story, but some readers like that. And we don't charge more for it, it's just bonus material. I like the idea so much, I just made a few for The Ruthless and might start doing it for future issues depending on feedback. I think it's a fun way for readers to get to know the universe better.

At any rate, I'm not following the last example of The Agencies falling victim to The Ruthless. Care to elaborate?

This was long winded, and I don't know if it helped or not. It may or may not have provided context on why the stories are intertwined (people that love involved stories really like the interconnection, people that don't care about it...well, they usually don't care and can still enjoy the books).
