Dear IM friends,

Yahoo deleted my ladywildcat_valerie account today, with no reason or explanation, so I will be using AIM and MSN messenger exclusively while I rebuild my contacts list for my backup Yahoo account.

Curiously, the deleted account was not the owner of any of my Yahoo groups, none of which were harmed in any way.

This comes at a very bad time because of the MSN Groups debacle, not to mention the start of play at my custom baseball league, which is presumably deleted too. I feel bad for the people who will be let down by this inexplicable action.

With best regards,

Is it just me, or does Yahoo constantly attack "alternative-interests" users? Before I knew about Tickletheater I remember playing leap frog with some of the Yahoo groups that kept getting shut down time after time. God that was annoying.

Sorry to hear about your yahscrew encounter.. hopefully Yahoo will someday broaden their 'unspoken tolerances', and actually act like they say they will in their legal lines.

5 accounts they've taken from me

and for the last two I have sent complaints.

Neither got an answer.

I HATE YAHOO!

I hate Yahoo too, and I have decided that I will not do further business with that company. I'll leave my existing Yahoo groups open for those who want to use them, but I will use Hotmail and Gmail for webmail, Pogo.com for free games, Sportsline.com for fantasy sports, and Google for searches and news. I use Yahoo's IM protocol through a third-party messenger product, so Yahoo doesn't get any ad views or revenue from it.

No company should treat their users like garbage. Yahoo does not live up to the standards set by comparable free services and is too unreliable for any serious use.

This 2001 article, "Yahoo!'s Secret War," makes the case that Yahoo does target alternative-interests users. It's interesting to note how many members of this forum, in particular, have had unexplained account deletions.

Lol, I only use yahoo if I need to give an email address to a teacher or something...for my personal things, I use AOL! 😛

Hey, Stuart, it's great to see you again! I had wondered what had happened to that group 🙁

Thanks, Socks, for the alternative games sites -- I'll check 'em out 😉
