F the Yankees. Watching them win is like seeing that arrogant douchebag with the Corvette and vanity license plate that reads "CSH MONY" with the rented blonde bimbo at his side roll up next to you at the stoplight, wink at you and burn rubber when the light changes. He thinks he's better than you because he has more money.

When Yankee fan screams, "WE WON," I reply with "206.35." That's their payroll.

Congratulations to the New York Yankees, winners of the 2009 World Series. 😀

I'm sure that you are very happy today, JPie. :cuddle:

Stop hating on the Yankees. If your teams did the same thing you would love it. The Yankee's have the money, spent the money and this year won.

Get your owners to spend the money to make your teams more competitive, or to get them over the hump.

why do people have to be so immature and spit out such rants. I understand if you don't like the Yankees but does it really warrant a nasty response?

the yanks do as they should, spend all they have/can to win. Most other teams have as much or close to the amount of money the yankees have but the owners choose to pocket it instead of making their team the best they can. Its not the yankees fault they spend money and others dont

Oh, lighten up. It was a joke. They really need to add a sarcasm button on the keyboard so folks don't get all bent out of shape.

As to why I hate the Yankees. I'm jealous because my team hasn't won a World Series in... forever. (Save it Milagros) Additionally, them and their rival (the damn Red Sox) are forever hogging up ESPN whenever they play like no other teams exist. Finally, MLB isn't balanced. The Yanks can go out and buy whomever they see fit while other franchises can't. Once a salary cap is instituted and the playing field is evened out, you won't see such disdain for your team.

Save it? Not a chance. The Yankees just won the 2009 World Series. Congratulations to them.

The Dodgers, since moving to L.A., have won the World Series five times, but not recently. (1959, 1963, 1965, 1981, 1988)

Your team, since moving to S.F., has NEVER won the World Series. :rowfull:

Actually every franchise can. There is nothing stopping them from spending money. Their owners simply CHOOSE not to. This is not an issue of only the Yankee's can. Its an answer of the Yankee's do.

Uh, what? Have you ever even been to NY? Doesn't sound like it.

He meant the syringes still lodged in Pettite and A-Fraud backsides. 😛

I hate you.

As far as I'm concerned, we won in 2002. *Goes back in time and keeps Dusty Baker from handing the ball to Russ Ortiz.

You actually have a point. Most owners want to make money so they don't spend on the big-time players. Still, a salary cap needs to be instituted to even the playing field. Maybe it'll take the Yankees winning the next two World Series to accomplish this.

I guess 206 millions dollars pretty much buys you a championship...sad that you can't grow home-grown talent and have a good farm system, when you haveto buy all-star teams to win championships:sowrong:

I don't know about that statement. The last I looked we still had Jeter, Pettite, Posada, and Mariano! Don't know who you rute for, but how much homegrown talent have the last few WS winners had? Including the Red Sox.

Ellsbury appeared in 33 games in '07. Delcarmen played in 2. Lowrie appeared in 0. In '04 the only player on the team was Youkilis. The players I named have won 5 world series and played in 7. They are all home grown talent. I don't know of any team in the modern era that didn't win with talent brought in from the outside. The Yanks have the advantage of having the most money and part of me would like to see baseball even things out. That would probably hurt the Yanks and the Sox in the short term. So in many ways we are in the same boat.

Until MLB wakes up and imposes a salary cap, the Yankees will have an unfair advantage each and every year. All three of the other major sports (football, basketball and hockey) have a salary cap and it has worked well for them. Until then, the Yankees will go out and just buy the best players every year and other teams can't compete. Case in point...Teixeria, Sabathia and Burnett. Would the Yankees have won the World Series without those three players that they overpaid for? I think not. To you delusional clowns that think the Yankees spend money where other teams do not, that is true to a point. But the Yankees have a multi-million dollar television deal with the YES Network that results in the Yankees having much more money to spend than the other 29 clubs in mlb. It's a disgrace that the Yankees haven't won the World Series since the year 2000. The Yankees had a 201+ million dollar payroll in 2009. The NEXT highest payroll team had a 135+ million dollar payroll. The Florida Marlins had a $36+ million dollar payroll. Until MLB has a salary cap, it will always be a battle of the have's vs the have not's. You can't say that some of these lower tier teams aren't willing to spend the money when they don't have the resources to spend the money that the Yankees have. The Yankees will always win in a bidding war for the top free agents versus the smaller market teams. After all, it is a business and all of these teams are trying to make some sort of profit in these tough economic times. So with that being said...F the Yankees!! :doublefinger:

Man, I love how people can't be excited about anything anymore without it being shit all over.

nope.. for baseballs sake i really hope the yankees buy jason bay, matt holiday and trade for holliday to stick it to everyone else.. maybe then baseball will change until then let the yanks buy everyone as they should its not their fault everyone else is stingy with their money

It's not being stingy when they don't have the resources to spend. The Yankees will just pay more money for any free agent no matter how much the Marlins, Orioles, Padres, Pirates, etc. offer to pay them. It's not a fair system.

why dont they have money to spend? because fans arent going to games.. because they dont buy the big name talent or even try to compete, and when they do have someone good they deal them at the trade deadline.. its their fault

I do not deny that the Yankees have an advantage because they have the highest payroll. But, when they won in the 90's, they didn't. If I'm not mistaken, they won then having the third highest payroll. There is also a "competitive balance tax" in baseball (revenue sharing) and the Yanks pay a hefty amount. Most owners simply pocket that money and don't put it into their team. Yankees ownership and management are in it to win, not just to make money. So it's not just their money that wins them championships. That being said, I still agree. I would love to see a salary cap even if it temporarily hurts my team.
