I hope the Memphis Grizzlies playoff performance will finally put away this stupid notion that the Pau Gasol to Lakers trade was the most horrific in NBA history. Three years after the trade, the Grizzlies took out #1 San Antonio and now won game 1 against Oklahoma City.

That trade DID NOT HURT the Grizzlies after all did it? Funny how Greg Popovich made such a big stink out of the trade, only to lose to those same Grizzlies this year.

Now, let's look at the TRUE HIGHWAY ROBBERY trade transaction. Kevin Garnett to Boston. That was highway robbery. KG goes to 2 Finals, won one, and Minnesota? Yeah, STILL in the lottery....

Now, who really got robbed between Memphis and Minnesota?

Of all the silly things you have said that is the silliest.

Kwame Brown , Javariss Crittendon , and Aaron McKie were awesome in the series win against the Spurs .

Basically all they have to show for the deal is Marc Gasol . and no one in their right mind would trade him straight up for his brother

in the 2008/09 season they went 24-58

09/10 they went 40-42

they have finally won their first playoff series in team history

the 2008 pick from the Lakers was Donte Green :neenerneener:😡

the 2010 pick from the Lakers was Greivis Vasquez :neenerneener: 😡

Im still waiting for someone to tell me how Pau Gasol a average player for Memphis, becomes the greatest player ever in the NBA after he gets traded to the Lakers.

Um, read the post. If you recall, when the trade went down, people said it was highway robbery. If it was, why are the Grizzlies thriving now?

Now, let's look at the KG trade to Boston. How is Minnesota doing now? Yeah, that trade really hurt Memphis didn't it?

as usual you got nothin '

thriving ????????????????????

the Grizzlies win one series and they r thriving ? lets not put the cart before the horse. The only reason you brought this up was to try to cover the Lakers flogging of the Grizz in that ass-backward trade. :bonk:

how are they competing now ??

They picked up a very talented yet much maligned Zack Randolph . He has FINALLY figured it out .

Conley was a draft pick who is getting better , but a high draft pick as a result of the Grizz being so bad for so long

Sam Young is blossoming as a second year player .

Rudy Gay getting injured . This has allowed Randolph to become '' the go-to guy on this team '' . Don`t get me wrong I like RG alot but maybe he a better no. 2 guy than being the man

Flock, seriously, are you blind or something? Yes, they are THRIVING. Tell me Flock, how many playoff series did the Grizzlies win before this year? How many playoff GAMES did they win before this year?

That is THRIVING. Now, tell me how Minnesota is doing in the same time span. Since you like bringing out stats, what's the T-Wolves record been like? In fact, were the Grizzlies more successful in the playoffs with PAU GASOL than they are now? How can it be a horrendous trade if they are doing better than they were with Pau?

Pay attention to the point. Usually ass-backward trades DECIMATE a franchise for years. Did the Grizzlies implode after the Gasol trade? Yes, or no? Their management knew what they were doing. They cleared cap space. They had a plan. Now it is paying dividends. As for Minnesota, how are they doing since the KG trade?

wait a freakin minute !!!

you are the guy who says ONLY CHAMPIONSHIPS MATTER and now one playoff series in the first round gives you a woody ??!!??

What does talking about Minnesota have to do with the Grizz , that right nothing .

primey, you really are a one trick pony . doesn`t matter what sports topic is you ALWAY use '' pay attention to the point '' .

for once give us some cold hard facts to back up your opinion.

you say Memphis knew what they were doing by clearing cap space. Please show me where they signed one major free-agent addition that is a big part of that team ; thats right you can't . No premier free-agent in their right mind up to this point ever considered signing with the Grizz

how can a team implode that before this year was always a bottom feeder battling for the worst record in the league ?

Why do you always evade the point I always make?

Pay attention closely Flock. Seriously, pay attention. The purpose of this thread is to show you that the Pau Gasol trade was not highway robbery. The trade that WAS highway robbery was the KG to Boston trade.

Now, pay close attention, because this is where you always derail. True or false? The Memphis Grizzlies have won more playoff series and games than they did with Pau Gasol. Can you answer that Flock?

Yes, they cleared cap space. That's why they took Kwame Brown. He had an EXPIRING CONTRACT. They wanted to clear cap space to draft and pick up players. Where did Zach Randolph come from? Where did OJ Mayo come from? thin air? They had CAP SPACE to sign these guys. It doesn't have to be a Lebron James type acquisition in order to improve your team.

Bottom line Flock, and here is the COLD HARD FACT. The Memphis Grizzlies are a MUCH BETTER TEAM now than they were with Pau Gasol. The simple fact that until Pau became a Laker, he NEVER WON ONE PLAYOFF GAME. The Grizzlies have now won 5 more now than they did with Pau.

Can you explain to me again how the Grizzlies suffered with that trade? They seem to be doing fine now. Oh, and the reason why I mention Minnesota is because THAT'S MY FREAKIN POINT.

Read Flock, read.

Dear Mr. Primetime

Do you know why it seems you get schooled in every debate with Mr. Seagulls

It's because he brings facts & even if you are pressed to do the same you don't .

Do you ever have a point? Tell me, "I went to over 400 games of fill in the blank team", What facts has Flock provided in this thread? Can you please point them out to me? Tell you what, I will give you the opportunity.

True or False? The Grizzlies have won more playoff series and GAMES now than they did with Pau Gasol. Can you answer that Mr. Irrelevant?

Yep , yep over four hundred games

The truth of the matter Mr. Blowhard is you are just one of the plethra of psuedo-Lakers fans that are a joke to real Lakers fans .:pukefight:

Lets see if you can respond rationally or jump right into name-calling and childish tantrums.

I 'm betting the farm on the latter but maybe you will surprise us because there is always hope

This is why I do not think very highly of you. If it wasn't for the golden rule, then I would really let you know what I think.

Look at the stats. Since the Gasol trade, they have IMPROVED haven't they? They haven't STAYED in the lottery have they? That's my point. A bad trade destroys a team, they don't improve! What you also fail to realize is the KG to Boston trade was much, much worse.

You fail to answer my question. True or False? The Grizzlies have won more playoff series and GAMES without Pau Gasol than they had when he was there. C'mon Grizzly, the answer is one word.....

What happened 3 seasons ago doesn't negate the fact that Aaron McKie, Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, and Marc Gasol were traded for Pau. Marc Gasol was a second round pick that the Lakers didn't think highly of as a developmental player given their desire to win at that moment with where they were going/Bynum being hurt. Everyone else in that trade was either past their valuable time or straight trash.

Kevin Garnett to Boston: Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, and picks. For immediate value, Al Jefferson was a lynch pin for the Wolves. Same time? Gomes still is a contributor in the NBA.

Both trades suck. LA doesn't get to make up for it because, after three straight western conference championships, Memphis made it to the second round. Memphis management is a little smarter about pieces outside the trade than the Timberwolves are, but if David Kahn and his desire to collect point guards with offensive deficiencies while still jacking up shots was involved in the Boston trade, then yeah, it's worse.

Answer these question please. True or False? The Grizzlies have won MORE playoff games/series WITHOUT Pau Gasol than they have with him.

True or False? The Timberwolves have won MORE playoff games/series WITH Kevin Garnett than they have without him.

The only reason why people say the trade was bad was because it made the Lakers of all teams better. A bad trade is a trade where the "duped" team doesn't go anywhere and never improves. Can you say that about Memphis?
