Your planned costume for Halloween 2014!

What's your planned outfit for this year's Halloween? I'll start:

I'm going to a local party run by a good friend as slave leia (complete with large / long baby pink ostrich feather boa) and my lover / mistress is going as Amazia Foxtrain (an old Marvel Star Wars Comic heroine).

And crap, is it that time again? Well last year I was at home on Halloween, so all I did was wear my Thor t-shirt and some grey pants and carry around a makeshift Mjolnir...though this year I actually have a Mjolnir keychain so that'll be easier xD

Awww...thanks hun but I'm really Really REALLY not comfortable with having images of me on the net. The party I'm going to is run by a couple who have a strict no-tablet / phones / cameras policy and that's pretty much the only reason I agreed to attend the party. I'm sorry hun as I'd love to show you specifically what I look like with the outfit, wig, and boa on but I'm just not okay with those images floating around on the net. Sorry Impy. :-(

I don't have any set plans for Halloween just yet; I know one or more of my friends might either have parties or want to go into the city to head over to the parade, but I'm not entirely sure & I don't know if any parties would actually involve getting dressed up. I kind of want to get a costume anyway, even if I just walk around my neighborhood and don't get anything out of it. I'm thinking of going back to an old standby & finally replacing my pirate wench costume.

What I do know for sure is that I'll be going to at least one performance of The Rocky Horror Picture Show; one of the local theaters does the stage musical every year, with midnight showings, and they're doing one on Halloween. So I'll be able to put my corset/fishnets/ridiculous high heeled boots/etc. to good use...though all that exposed skin might get me into trouble. 😉

You should do Halloween like I did when I was in college: just celebrate for a week (or at least a few days) and wear at least one new costume every day. (I went to an art school, so we kind of all just went around in as many different costumes as we could fit in before it was officially "no longer Halloween".) 😛

Well, I now have a great nephew who is 11 months old. It's his first Halloween, and I don't want to scare him, so I went for a 'kid friendly' costume.

I'm thinking I'll make some signs to hold like "Halloween - I hate it!" and "Your costume is stupid!"

It likely won't happen this year either, but for about the last three years, I've said I'd get going with ideas on how to pull off a Halloween costume like the attached turn-of-last-century (& very faded) photograph (see below).

Maybe next year? (I keep telling myself.) I hate to bother my sister on it, but she's the only person I know with the sewing ability to pull something like that off.

The whole puzzle of how to pull the outfit together is probably a lot easier to solve than I'm allowing for. Maybe a visit to Party City is in order. Not that I'll find a mosquito-man costume with matching bike insect-wing attachments there (God how I wish!), but perhaps some idea on how to fake my way into something using parts from various costumes.
