Just got off the phone with the M-inlaw.
Last year or so she Rent-A-Centere'd a Laptop for me as a gift. Read: gift.
Today she calls and opens with: "I know you don't have a job but... I was talking with Dan and I need X and X and Y and Z for my car, and I need you to take over the payments for the laptop. Once Dan gets you caught up in child support of course. Ha Ha."
Me: Silence.
Her: "Don't be mad, please. It's just, you know, you can call Dan yourself and even he'll tell you. I just don't have the money for it and can't be paying off other people's stuff right now."
Me: "Okay."
Her: "It's only 35 dollars a week. You should have it paid off by December or so."
Me: "Okay."
Her: "Dan's even giving me money to help when I take the baby to SeaBreeze tomorrow, in case there's extras I need or the baby wants."
Me: Silence.
Her: "I played dumb that he still owes you money. Ha. Ha."
Me: "What's the grand total of the Laptop bill."
Her: "Oh. Ah.. 418 dollars and change."
Me: Silence.
Me: "Okay."
Her: "But please don't be mad, I just can't--"
Me: "I don't care."
I now have to come up with 418 dollars. -- I'm not doing weekly payments. It's bullshit. As well as the fact that, the grand total of that Bill? I could've bought a brand new fucking laptop with.
I never saw any of that coming. At all.
