Why does it seem that people more often than not forget about things that happened not so long ago. I see it far too often, or the other side of it people forgetting something they did.
Case in point, my ex-wife often times will act like I am still her best friend or husband with the she talks to me or asks me for favors. She tries sugar coating things, or enticing me and at times seems like she wants me to forgive and forget. I know carrying a grudge is unhealthy, but sometimes they are a good thing. It reminds you that a person at one time let you down BIG TIME, and I find it insulting at times that she thinks I should "be happy" and just chit-chat with her like the "good ol days".
Another case is in the political arena. How people forget things from like 3-4 years ago and now act like they never existed. The news glosses over them, the talking heads forget all the while I am screaming at the TV "YOU MORONS, THINK BACK!!! AM I THE ONLY PERSON THAT REMEMBERS!!!"
Now understand I am talking about adults here, with kids you have to forgive and forget and move on. They are still learning and maturing and will make more mistakes than you can shake a stick at. So understand I am not speaking of children.
I am however sometimes just flat out floored by some actions that adults make. I mean especially when they do not even apologize for a mistake, and just expect people to forget. I mean if you screw up, apologize. Its not that hard. I can forgive someone who apologizes if they are genuine and then I can move on. I still will not forget, I'll keep it in the back of my mind for a while, just for reference, but never will be used against the person. Just a personal reference so I can be more aware of future situations.
TRUST to me is a very valuable commodity. Worth more than anything else I can think of.
