For whatever reason, it crossed my mind today about what I would do if say, I won; the lottery.
The following would be what I would do.. not much for myself.. actually.
First, I would make sure that my senior relatives were "Set for life" (Hopefully many years) with money, apartments, trips, etc.
I would make nice contributions to charities, but not so I could have a "Fund or building" named after me. I'm not like that. I would make quiet donations to help.
For myself.
I would not get "A penthouse". Why? What would one person need a "Penthouse" for?
My apartment would be..
Maybe.. three bedrooms, a Master Bedroom for myself, a workroom/office/den, and one guest room.
A decent size living room, kitchen, etc.
Maybe.. equal to the space that my mom and I had in Lancaster, if that. (Which was,, 1300 sq feet),
If I moved in with a woman, and my partner/wife was okay with it, and wanted to stay where I was living, that would probably be large enough for two people.
If I ever did have a child.
(Unlikely at my age, unless I married a much younger woman who wanted it, someone who wanted to adopt, or already had kids, ). I could always get a bigger place if we needed it.
I think all of this came about from the period after my mom died. It was more than just "being in that apartment. ", which of course was horrible. All that space just seems. too big for one person.
In NYC, most people I know, including ,myself, live in small apartments, ,.
This thought came to mind from a friend who lives out of the city, and who lives in a rather.. large house by themselves. If that is what works for them , fine. For me,.. no.
Amazing how one's perspective changes. From someone who grew up in a large house. Even though the house was mostly just my parents, myself, and for most of the time we lived there, our Golden Retriever.
Anyhow!
