One of the first things that comes to mind when someone asks me what I look for in others is reality. By reality, I mean being real...being the persn we truly are deep down inside.
Our lives can demand much of us at times. We experience all sorts of prompts from the society around us to mold us into the person they want us to be. Sometimes, we conform. Sometimes, we don't. For too many, we take on a chamelian personality, becoming for each the person they want to see.
But, what about the real us? What about that beautiful person inside begging to be let out? Do we even know who the real us is any more?
We come here to this forum as one little triumph. Yes! We like tickling/being tickled! That's who we are! We're finally free to say what we think. Or are we? Don't we still wear masks at times? Aren't we still afraid to let the real us shine forth?
Over the years, there've been plenty of encounters in the community that have proven that we still have a long way to go. When will wpeople learn that they can disagree on something without having to attack one another?
And that's really why so many people wear masks in the first place. Isn't it? We're so afraid of being rejected if others see the real us that w hide behind those masks and never allow ourselves to flourish.
I've taken on something of a "So what?" attitude. So what if someone else doesn't like what I think or say or do? If I'm not hurting anyone in the process, what difference does it make? I am who I am. Aside from those areas where I need to grow, I like myself. And I like myself in spite of those areas.
I couldn't always say that. Now that I can, I refuse to let anyone else tear me down. They can say whatever they want. They don't know me well enough to judge me. And nobody knows you well enough to judge you either...as if knowing someone gives anyone that right anyway.
Be yourself! Take off the masks! Let us see and get to know and love the REAL you!
