Good morning,

This is actually kind of a pain just to let you know up front, but if you're just dying to have a MySpace-ish Playlist Player on your Member Profile, this works. :super_hap

PLEASE NOTE!!!
This is an optional function of the site which is using Playlist.com's player to play your songs. The signup *is* free, but they serve advertisements on their site that will try to get you to enter your phone number for ringtones. This is how they make their money. DO NOT enter your phone number if you're not interested in their ringtone service. USE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION!

VIDEO TUTORIAL ALTERNATIVE!!!
the_jimmy_james has posted an alternative instructional method with a step-by-step video session of a playlist being setup. CLICK HERE to go view it.

Step One (Register a Playlist.com Account):
Fire up a new browser and head over to Playlist.com and register a free account assuming you're not a member already.

Step Two (Create your playlist):
Create a playlist by searching for song titles or artists and add the results to your playlist on their site. Please make note of the title you give your playlist.

Step Three (Getting the code):
After you get your playlist together click their "My Playlists" link at the top of that site. On the right-hand side click the 3rd link down from the Quick Links list that says, "Put your playlist on MySpace."

We're not going to click the MySpace logo. Instead, from here we're going to choose Option E and on the next page go ahead and leave the options default as they appear. You may play around if you'd like, but it hasn't been tested yet...

Click the GET CODE button and you'll see a whole box of code like this:

Code:
<div style="text-align: center; margin-left: auto; visibility:visible; margin-right: auto; width:450px;">
<embed style="width:435px; visibility:visible; height:270px;" allowScriptAccess="never" src="http://www.profileplaylist.net/mc/mp3player_new.swf?config=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.profileplaylist.net%2Fext%2Fpc%2Fconfig_black.xml&mywidth=435&myheight=270&playlist_url=http://www.profileplaylist.net/loadplaylist.php?[B]playlist=58343250&t=1233662535[/B]" menu="false" quality="high" width="435" height="270" name="mp3player" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" border="0"/>
<br/>
<a href="http://www.profileplaylist.net"><img src="http://www.profileplaylist.net/mc/images/create_black.jpg" border="0" alt="Get a playlist!"/></a>
<a href="http://www.mysocialgroup.com/standalone/58343250" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.profileplaylist.net/mc/images/launch_black.jpg" border="0" alt="Standalone player"/></a>
<a href="http://www.mysocialgroup.com/download/58343250"><img src="http://www.profileplaylist.net/mc/images/get_black.jpg" border="0" alt="Get Ringtones"/></a>
</div>
What we want is the playlist ID which I highlighted in bold in my example. My recommendation is to paste this into a text editor and search for "loadplaylist.php?" and grab the code immediately after it so it just looks something like this:

Code:
playlist=58343250&t=1233662535
Step Four (Home Stretch):
Head back over to the TickleTheater web site and go into your User CP > Edit Details section. Scroll down to the bottom and paste the "playlist=58343250&t=1233662535" into the Playlist.com ID Field, and then choose a color from the choices listed there.

That's it! Your playlist should now appear directly under your Mini Stats box on your member profile page.

If you have any trouble let me know...
-TT

I've followed all your instructions... but it doesn't seem to work!

Did I do something wrong? :shock:

Could you please provide me the exact bit of code you pasted into the Playlist ID field?

Do you have to pay money to do this? I got a text that said something about 9.99 a month...

I'm pretty sure it's free unless you try to get it as a ringtone, which you shouldn't, if you follow my instructions.

Yay!

It works!!! :laughing:

Thanks TT...well worth the wait! :laughing:

Okay, sorry, added a little notice to the first post. Case in point... you shouldn't enter your phone number if you follow my instructions. There may be an advertisement to do so, but don't do it if you don't want a monthly playlist subscription. Silly girl... :wbiggrin

You can also cancel it in case you did accidentally do it.

That is so bad ass. I just realized after viewing Fmilling's Playlist that you can click the Add button next to the song it will let you add it to your own playlist on-the-fly.

Excuse the question but what is this? "text editor"

It's not working. I can't even get a song to play. Every time I click on the "Play" button or "Add To Playlist", it just says "Please wait until the player loads." The player is already on the screen, but it does nothing.

Text editor is a program like Notepad or Wordpad.

I know the instructions are long, but if you do not read and follow them carefully, then it simply will not work. I can see that you haven't entered in the Playlist ID or color in your Edit Details area. That would cause the player to not work for sure. If it still doesn't work, PM me and we will go from there.

Ya know thanks to firefox i lost my adobe flash..so i'm uninstalling firefox so i can go in and listen to my playlist..

Actually, I was just about to delete that last post. I went back to Playlist.com and found out what the problem was. It wasn't working because I was using the Beta version instead of the standard version. I'm still in the process of building my Playlist, so I haven't even gotten to Step 3 yet. If I have any more problems, I'll let you know.

Thank you MissyVal! :34:

No... this isn't a clever way to show you there's also new smilies... sleep, what's that? BwWWaaHAhAhaHhahAHa.a....a.ahh... ha...

Works great! I love this option. I've been wanting to put a playlist on the profile page. I really like how the profiles are becoming more personalized.

Thanks!

I"m confused about the loadplaylist.phb thing..whenever i go to that page i can't find any code...please help?

Hey TT, do you know if there is a way to turn the randomizer option on? I selected the code for it but it still plays the default listing.

[I'm going to re-post this in the Technical Help forum. The reply should probably go there.]
