CAT Munch - Saturday, June 6th

After checking in with Avenger314, we've scheduled our next munch.

When: Saturday, June 6th at 12:30pm.
Where: Jimmie's of Savin Rock 5 Rock St. West Haven, CT (near New Haven)
What: lunch followed by beach time if the weather is nice

Jimmie's sits right on the beach of Long Island Sound. They have a wide variety of food to choose from and a back room that we'll be requesting so that we can be a bit more free with our conversations. There is a beautiful beach walk area right out back that extends for a mile in both directions. (No relocating to hang out.) While the sound isn't the greatest of places to swim, it is there should anyone care to take a dip. There are public facilities for changing, etc. just across the parking lot from the restaurant.

It's easy to get to as well.

For those coming from the north and east, pick up I-95 South.
For those coming from the south and west, pick up I-95 North.

For everyone...Take exit 42 and turn right onto Saw Mill Rd. Continue straight for approx 2 miles as Saw Mill becomes Wagner and then Kelsey Ave. You'll see the restaurant right across the street at the end of Kelsey Ave.

Yes, they are. But, it can also be awesome if it's stormy with an onshore wind. Piles the water up and sends it crashing in. It's an amazing thing to behold.

You'll be fine, Ron. Just be yourself. This is all about having fun and getting to know one another. No pressure to do anything or be "on".

Jessica (Aylajane15) and I will absolutely be there. Can't wait! I've bever been to this place but it sounds good. The beach in particular sounds like a fun way to kick back and relax after the munch.

One question: Are we planning on actually sitting on the beach for a while? If so, I can certianly bring along sunscreen, beach towel, chair, bathing suit, etc. It seems like a good opportunity, but it's your show.

Folks can do as they like. If they want to bring chairs or towels, that's cool. Heck, they can even bring suits if they like cold water! (The LI Sound is only about 58 at this point.) There's a nice paved walkway all up and down the shoreline, lots of benches, a gazebo, bacci courts, etc. One of my fav places is the huge rock area behind the museum. It's cool to sit out there and feel like you're the only one around.

Note to those who haven't been along the sound... Wearing beach shoes is recommended. There's a lot of broken shell debrise that gets washed in.

Looks like 14 people at this point. I'll be calling Jimmie's to confirm the number tomorrow evening. If anyone else would like to join in, you're more than welcome. Just give me a heads up so I can let them know.

Current forecast... Rain all day Friday through the overnight. Then clearing and mid 70s on Saturday. So, the air should be nice and clear after the cleansing rain. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Just ask for the "CAT GROUP" and they'll directo you to where we're sitting. (I've requested to be in the back room so we aren't in the way if folks want to wander around the table a bit.)
