Nimrod, thanks alot for your posts in AMT. I mostly troll the newsgroups and seldom post, but from the positive postings I see about you from the regulars in the NGs you are very much appreciated. I am surprised that after reading this thread how many people are not privvy to the Alternative NGs where you can find an NG that contains almost any fetish you can think of. Being a MSNtvr, one of few good things is getting the NGs from our Homepage. Once again thanks for the Vidclps.

Thanks Badger. I have a lot of people asking why I don't post clips here instead of posting them to the news groups. The answer simply has to do with resources. To post clips here would require finding a free server (since I can't afford to pay for it) to use. Unfortunately, this would severely limit the number of clips that I post because of limitations on bandwidth. For people who access the Internet through their ISP, they already pay for access to newsgroups and the bandwidth needed to download the clips. It's not an issue of liking AMT over this forum; I'm just trying to make the best use of the resources I have available to me.

Damn registration period!!!

Nimrod I just worked out how to acces the newsgroups using newsrover a day ago, and i must say that you are a generous man to put the time and effort into posting them . . however my newsrover is around a month old and thus i must register to further its use. I dont want to. Is there any way to get around this? I already tried uninstalling newsrover and downloading it again, but its remains the same. Any ideas? Anyone?

If you don't wish to register NewsRover, you may want to consider getting one of the free news readers, such as Free Agent by Forte (http://www.forteinc.com/agent/freagent.htm). NewsRover is not very intuitive to use, so if you figured out how to get it working then you should be able to get Free Agent working.

I have news rover but can't get any Mpeg or rm files because it downloads all the pictures first and then tells me it has done the max of what it can untill i register. i have tried filtering. what do i do or what else do i use

Csiszi: I can't answer your question specifically. There is not a general server; each ISP provides their own news servers. How are you accessing the news?

tickler45: My copy of NewsRover is registered, so I can't remember what limitations the software has for unregistered versions. Your post seems to say that each time you use the software you can download some files, but you reach the download limit before getting multimedia attachments. If this is the case, you could try using the filter for only multimedia attachments. Also, you can choose which files to download, so just choose those with multimedia attachments.

I happen to use NewsRover, so that is what I recommended. However, there are a lot of different news readers available. One of the more popular free ones is Free Agent (http://www.forteinc.com/agent/index.php). You can also try searching for the terms 'news reader' at http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/ to find other news readers.

I can see all messages, but I can't combine the msgs - I don't think a msg that is 200 bytes can contains any clip...
What do I do wrong?

This site, http://www.wnabb.freeserve.co.uk/programs.htm , has some information about free news servers as well as news readers. Another site to try is http://www.allpicturez.com/newsservers.htm

Since my ISP provides a news server, I don't have experience with any of the free news servers, so you'll need to evaluate the info above for yourself. I can't recommend any particular free news server. If the information above doesn't help, try searching for a free news server in one of the search engines. I used Google (http://www.google.com) to find the information above.
