At what age did you realize Santa was not real

Actually, when I was just 6 years old and still living in the Bronx, I decided that it would take somebody at least one minute to go into a house or apartment, leave presents, and go out again. I carefully multiplied 60x24 = 1,440 and realized there were more than that many apartment buildings in the Bronx, let alone residences in the world. That made the stories about Santa clearly impossible.

I was eight years old when my mother told me there was no santa claus.
Then I grew up , had kids and found out he really was real. I was santa claus !

I was never raised to believe in any form of Santa. He was always just a character in books and movies for me.

I never admitted it until I was about 6 or so, but at 4 I had really stopped believing. I found presents from Santa in the closet....

There was never a specific age. I just always knew he wasn't real and didn't understand why the Christian kids didn't realize that too.

Same. I got in trouble in preschool for outing Santa and the Easter Bunny to other kids.

When I was six, I noticed all the Toys R Us stickers on my presents and put two and two together. I recall being too proud of myself for figuring it out to be upset over the no-Santa issue :cat:

3. I got up to go to the bathroom and saw the parents wrapping presents. It was kind of sad now that I think about it.

cant be as sad as the way i found out .

I was 8 years old and i got up to pee and i hear someone out in the living room so i go out and i see my dad eating the snack we left for Santa.

However the ways my parents made it look like Santa came were very clever .

ok folk do you really believe that your parents can wrap all your gifts and put them under the tree come on that is what santa is for. I have an uncle who is a 57th don master tinker he is in 3 level of the north pole. he works on all the micro chip's and stuff.

I had pretty much figured it out on my own, but I was officially told when I was 4. I didn't even care, but when they told me the Care Bears weren't real either......oh there was a tantrum there!

well,

I was never aloud to believe in him. So I wrote him a letter begging him to make them understand (oh sounds like a christmas movie lol) and the letter was still there with the cookies untouched. I think that was at age 6 or 7. Devastated I tell ya. :woot:

I guess I first started to doubt when I was 7 or 8. The only problem was that whenever I would bring it up around my mom, my little sister who was 3 years younger would be in the room. She finally took me aside one time and told me there wasn't a Santa Claus but that I could never tell my sister about it.

I do remember having a kid with CP (cerebal palsy) in one of my classes in Jr High and since he still believed in Santa we all had to watch what we said. It is kind of the same way now teaching 4th graders. I have to watch what I say because some of them still believe in Santa.

I think about 5 or 6 I knew there was not a Santa Claus, especially when my parents took me out shopping and let me pick out gifts for my brother and sisters. But they kept the illusion for my little sister, who was only 2 at the time. Once she knew something was amiss, then the "From: Santa" gifts under the tree were no longer there.

However with my kids, there is no way I can take this from them, so I will be going to extraordinary lengths to show them he is real this year.

Setting up my camera to take pictures of me from behind with my santa suit, hat, and wig. Pictures from behind of him eating the cookies, filling the stockings and going up the chimney.

I want this for my kids. And to me after about 9 years old Santa was never a living person, but a feeling, a spirit if you will. So to me Santa is still alive. Because as long as one child believes in Santa, he is still around....somewhere.

I think that is the absolute sweetest response I have ever heard! What a heart 🙂

I realized the day I started lighting the Hanukkah Candles!

and yes Rob, that is very sweet, your a good daddy!

I think I was 7 or 8. I think it was the same age I realized that Jesus was not real.

I dunno, probably about 9 or 10

That's the time you realise that there is no magic & the world can be a cruel hard place..
