Why is it called "The Pose"?

That phrasing for it's been around since I can remember, but when/why did it become the 'standard' or whatever for feet pictures? I can think of like 3 other better poses in terms of feet/face ratio, if that's why. Like somewhere along the line this became the end all be all of foot pervin', it's just not that impressive to me.

Is this something tickle people came up with or is it a foot fetish thing? I don't think I've ever seen non-tickle foot guys refer to it as "the pose".

hmm, maybe because it's more of a woman thing to "pose" like this and 9/10 times it's barefoot/socks
I don't recall to see (straight) guy "pose" like that. In tv shows (girly) gay guys, like the dude from will and grace (who btw is a great actor especially because he is in real life NOT gay) also pose like that. So I think it's a femenine pose and mostly when they pose like that they're barefoot
 
I mean why people refer to that specific pose as the pose, not why do people do it at all.
 
Pete's pretty much correct on this; "the pose" is a characteristic position for the ladies - think slumber party girl talk. It's at the DNA level. And while it can be mouth-watering at times, it is 'way over-rated. It's interesting to notice, however, that when a woman is lying prone with her legs kicked up, she is essentially blockading all her usual female access ports (I know,.. I'm trying to think pure engineering, here.),.. but she is innocently offering up her feet. It's sort of the ultimate submissive gesture to a foot fetishist. Makes you think, eh?
 
I think just because it's such a common/mainstream pose in which a girl is barefoot and her soles can be seen? If I recall correctly the girls at my highschool or whatever did it, too, for senior pics. If it wasnt highschool it was at some point in my life. I only remember because, well other than it being the pose, I thought it was odd that they took their shoes/socks off for it.

You probably won't find a real reason by asking, though. Most likely someone just started referring to it as the pose within this or another community and the name stuck. I can remember it as early as 04 or 05, maybe 02? But I don't know when I first read it.
 
I've actually never heard it called that before. But yeah I agree, there are way more interesting/better poses than that.
 
I always hear it called "the pose" and I always wonder what's so much better about that pose over others.
 
For me, it's the combination of the face in the foreground and the feet in the background. It's almost as though the girl is saying 'You can look at my face or you can look at my feet!'.

I've always found it incredibly attractive 🙂
 
I've always found it pointless to see a picture of disembodied bits of anatomy. Eyes being the window of the soul and all of that, I rarely appreciate any picture, erotic or otherwise, unless the subject's face can be seen. For example, some posts feature a photo titled 'My Girlfriend's Left Foot' and that's exactly what's pictured. That's why I like The Pose; it showcases a complete human being instead of one fragment of a jigsaw puzzle. For example,

The phrase "The Pose" has been used on foot fetish websites since before the TMF existed.

I can't quite agree with this,.... but let's narrow this thing down a little, eh? First off, "the pose" is just "a pose," but it is possibly the most recognizable one. For that matter, what other position would qualify as being "the pose?" And what would that make this one,... "the other pose?" Or vice versa? It is hardly worth getting very concerned about. It's just one of those random little things which do not bear much scrutiny.
 
Simply said, it is referred to as "THE pose" in the community because it is the ubiquitous mainstream model pose that is most often barefoot and shows soles and face - appealing to both foot fetishists and foot ticklers, among others.

Having attended said "slumber parties" (albeit 20 odd years ago... ), I can't recall this being the predominant pose of the attendees. I personally find that position rather cumbersome and uncomfortable, squishing the whole pectoral area. And for the sake of fetish pics... I'd say like others have said, it seems to be something favored, although it seems forced and contrived to me as a female.
