Sometimes it helps to constrain the area to which you attempt to appeal, as New England describes a LARGE area, and some folks don't like long drives.
Too, sometimes you'll find a better situation after you've attended a local gathering or munch, and have gotten to know some of the locals. Always easier as a known quantity.
