I knew I shoulda paid more attention to the government's new tax laws. Another buck of tax added to tobacco and alcohol. Imagine my happiness and joy when I found out it started today.

How is the TMF smoking section doing?
 
It refueled my Love's drive to quit... They keep hitting smoker's hard!
 
Do what I did: buy a cigarette rolling machine for $40. Then get a 1 lb. bag or two of tobacco, spend $1.50 for a box of 200 of the filters of your choice and roll your own.

I started doing that 2 weeks ago and the money I've saved has already paid for the machine. A 1 lb bag of tobacco is now around $35 and you get a little over 2 cartons out of a one-pounder. Therefore, you've spent $35 for two cartons of smokes as opposed to over $100 in the store.

And best of all, the tobacco actually tastes better. No more chemical taste, no more going out constantly. And you can roll about 4 packs in an hour's time. Seriously, I recommend this to all smokers.
 
I have a rolling kit, but there's no place near me (like there used to be)that has the big bags of loose tobacco. Looks like the hunt is on.
 
I do not smoke any more. Quit over 4 years ago. However in NY AND other states I believe, 9 thats NINE bucks by mid April I do believe.
 
The good side, so many people will start quitting because they can't afford it that it will increase the health. I will be quitting myself.

The bad side, less smokers, less taxes...they will have to find something else to tax higher.

The other bad side, crime will increase....quickly.

It's ten bucks a pack here in Canada. It's been like that for a while.

I roll my own and have done so since nintey six. Cheaper.
 
I'm sick of the so called "sin tax" thing.If the government wants people to quit smoking,make tobacco illegal.We could do the same thing with alcohol.Oh wait,we tried that once at it worked out well.🙄

And i'd like to pose a question to those who think this tax increase on tobacco is such a great idea.Let's say more people quit as a result.Then the tax revenue will go down.Yeah i know it's supposed to go towards anti smoking programs and health care yada yada.

When more people quit smoking and government no longer has that revenue stream,what's next?Do you really think they they won't find something else to lay a tax on?
 
With the new taxes in NY, cigarettes are $9 a pack here today. 😱
But I don't smoke. 😀
 
i dont smoke and never have and never will but still think its outrageus that they are doing that and it will rise the crime rate to whitch is sad best thing to do is quit or get another job just to support it its getting bad
 
Cigarettes are now well over 9 or 10 bucks. I'm used to Newports being around 7 or 8 dollars, but this is ridiculous.

Either I'm going to have to learn to roll my own, get one of those retarded machines to roll my own, quit, or smuggle them from the suburbs.

Agh Newports are so good though.
 
A bar I played at in Chicago last week had some reps from Camel there giving away free packs. I got 4, that'll keep me in cigs for about the next year since I don't smoke often.

Yes I do! A lot better than the "mess" BUSH left and started! LOL Now he's enjoying his life in his new house while others are sleeping in tents. Go figure!

So again Yes I love Obama ( hate his middle name ) and no Michelle is nothing like Jacqueline O! Whoever said that needs glasses and a reality check! She will never match up to Jackie O EVER!

I roll my own - smells better, and I can get about 30 fags for the equivalent of about $4.
The price of tobacco's rising here as well, though it's not nearly as much as it is across the pond.
 
Cigarettes are dirt cheap in Japan--about $3 a pack. Still, I often roll my own anyway because it tastes better. I think I will be switching to rolling full time if I haven't quit before I get back to the states. Six or seven bucks is just too much for smokes!

Everything is obamas fault, but thats for another forum. lets get back to the topic of the messiah raising taxes on everything. :facepalm:
 
I pay $10 for my Benson & Hedges Smooths 20's. At some petrol stations I'm paying up to $12 for the same pack.

Let us die in peace, please!
