"better yet let's talk about the biggest tax increase in history purpetrated by clinton. i went from the 18% bracket to the 28% bracket over night, and actually made less that year! that bastard started trouble in the medical/hospital field that is still being felt!"
I was working in the medical field during that time as a division secretary (ward clerk, or whatever it's being called these days). I remember the changes made in nursing care and the unrealistic expectations of nurses during that time. Unfortunately, if the nurses weren't happy, no one was happy and it was usually taken out on the secretaries who were considered the peons of the day. I also remember the changes in the tax bracket as well, and it did hurt!
* you are correct, many was the time that fellow nurses would lash out against the unit secretaries. as the shift charge nurse i was constantly soothing ruffled feathers.*
But, I also remember George Sr. rhetoric about "Read my lips! No new taxes!" And he didn't raise the taxes either. He just removed many important write offs for the middle and "lower" classes and kept his rich cronies happy.
*i too remember the broken pladge ,and i was madder than a scalled cat! i also remeber bush sr. saying he had no choice, that congress (controler by the democrats at that time) were not going to authorize social security checks, and military pay checks to be issued in two days if he didn't go along with their tax hike. he had wanted to veto that budget.*
But, as a good Bushite, I'm supposed to ignore the facts and just believe what the Bush's and the media say. After all, Bush's never lie🙄 🙄 🙄
