A&E special about '' the girl in the box ''

I was watching the a&e channel. And they had this crime special on this girl named Collen that was kidnapped by this couple named Michal powers and his own (wife/sex slave). And Michal tortured Collen and his Wife (but mostly Collen) and Michal would like hang Collen up on hooks that he had hanging from the high ceilings while she was naked and he would beat her with leather whips and chains. And he would also make home-made torture devices out of wood (since his worked at a lumber yard) to put Collen on and use on her. This went on for like 7 total years before finally she ran and got away before he was put in prison. Michals wife wasn't put in prison though i thought believe because she was also his sex slave along with Collen as well. And he even made Collen sign this contract to what he called THE COMPANY of a group of Real sex slave holders. Where if Collen didn't sign contract to be a part of THE COMPANY Michal would have had to just ship Collen off to another sex slave master somewhere in the United States i would assume. But the a&e special talked about gruesome things that Michal did to Collen for a period of 7 years before she finally ran away with the help of Michals other sex slave/wife (because she found God and did become a Christian it also talked about). He would like leave Collen chained up for days and nights naked just hanging there. And he would like put her in this box that he built under his own water bed so she could hear his Wifes screams from Michal torturing her as well and beating her. It showed that he had thousands and thousands of porn and violent s&m magazines stuffed down below his basement and home. They home to several homes and trailors as well through out that period of the 7 years so they couldn't be traced.

And so with all this. This bags the Question from what all that you guys read (or maybe some of you have even seen the show i was talking about and referring to)

Do you think Collen was really Michal Powers sex slave or just a willing Participate or Was she brain-washed?

pss. this happend in Redwood california as well. which it makes it even more scary and gruesome

FRom what I know of this story, you could call it brainwashed, or you could jsut call it plain old living in fear. The guy was a guy. He obviously kill her if he wanted too. The putting her in things against her will broke her. She had never seen anything like this in her life, and so the fear of being in this situation caused her to react the way she did. Some peope come to that situation and fight. Some become submissive out of fear of the situation. If you ask me, prison is too good for that guy. He should have his ass beaten every damn day for the rest of his life.

I remember the actual case. This scumbag had a pull-out platform under his bed that he kept her chained to when he wasn't using her. He also forced her to wear a full head-encasement box while she was under there. I remember seeing one of the jurors try this thing on her head, so she could get the feeling of it. It caused her to break down in tears.

This is a good example of someone whose life is a complete waste of natural resources.

Some people in this world of ours are sick and twisted and mentally unstable.


True though granted i do find theses types of crimes cases and things of that nature interesting!. But i feel there is a big difference in being interested in theses things. And then actually wanting to go out myself and commit this acts i would NEVER EVER do that

Did you ever see the movie "9 1/2 Weeks"? It's based on a true story, much darker and more violent than the movie. You know how in the movie, at the end, she summons the strenght to leave him? In real life he dropped Elizabeth off at the mental institution~it's where she writes the book.

Did you ever see the movie "9 1/2 Weeks"? It's based on a true story, much darker and more violent than the movie. You know how in the movie, at the end, she summons the strenght to leave him? In real life he dropped Elizabeth off at the mental institution~it's where she writes the book.

i'm always a sucker for serial killer books and anything to do with crimes. (Even though my parents don't really approve at all!!)

Okay so both of these jerks should be beaten every day for the rest of their lives. Beat them so much that in 10 years they are only shells of human beings. In fact, death penalty for both morons as far as I am concerned.

It's pretty grim stuff hon. If you watch the credits at the end, you can see she actually served as consultant on the filming of the movie.
It's been a long time since I've read it but I bet if you visit your local Borders or Barnes & Noble, they can order it for you.

I'm a huge forensics fan as well~my dream job is to work for the coroner! (Whose office is next door to mine...)
