It's probably been mentioned before, but what do you guys think of having the options of 'liking' threads or comments - similar to that what-its-face site?

Fuck off! If that sort of thing happens i'm resigning.

Ditto. (except for the 'fuck off' part. 😉 )

I was just looking through another thread where people were replying with simple one word answers with the quote intact, and just thought for congestions sake if there was a more simplistic way to do this.
How or why could this be a good thing?

TMF has a history of perceived "cliques" and "clique behavior", and whether or not you think those claims have any validity I think we can all assume it would just serve to further agitate that particular group of people. So I'll give that a nay.

Most folks take Robitussin® for that. Besides... "like" buttons are soooooo group-think.

No.

I dislike forums that use thread rating. The feature while well intentioned is often used to suppress people who present conflicting views, or have become disliked by a larger group. I feel it makes forums unwelcoming to new users, and is an invitation to yet another possible avenue of abuse.

As a result thread rating will not be active here.

Bravo-------- good show, old chap....... what a jolly decent fellow that Myriads person is.

I don't see any point in being able to "Like" threads. So no, I wouldn't support the idea.

Yeah,.... and kinda adolescent, too. We don't really need a forum contingent collecting "likes" as if they were silly bandz. I see too much of this sort of thing "above ground." We should at least keep our perversions and deviant behavior on the pure up-and-up.

'chah, doood, like, totally... .... .... ... ... be my BFF??!? PLEEEeeeEEEAzEEE!!!!!

Why would you want to waste time on that anyways? I would say a lot of posts are not worthy of responding; let alone rating. I make a lot of posts that does not need a response, let alone(negative responses) - adding to my miserable hangover the day after. If this is a scientific forum, then yes, rate and respond away. This community is not scientific! We are a bunch of horny people seeking orgasms, and if you overthink dialogue: it will just get you pissed-off. Now, you are into genital-mutilation...
