A normal conversation about my kinky side

I thought it might be relevant to post this conversation up. Especially for people who are worried others might say something bad about them for having a "fetish" or are not sure what exactly to say.

I went back home this weekend and had this conversation with a few of the girls at a party. Keep in mind, for the last four years I've been around a very liberal place and I almost rarely hear any kind of objections at all to what I like sexually. People here either nod (meaning they don't feel the same way I do but they accept it), laugh (meaning they've never heard something like this before and find it endearing) or agree (meaning they feel the same as I do, if not the same then slightly) when a conversation like this comes up.

Well, this is a very backwoods redneckish place. People here typically aren't very tolerant of anything they feel is 'different'. So, this is probably the closest thing I've ever heard to intolerance in my life (of course, you'll see its not actually intolerant).

Anyway, it turns out two of the girls there had a disgust with feet. And this is what was said:

Me: Really? feet?
Girl 1: Oh my God! I can't stand them! They're so feety!

Me: Not me. I totally love them.
Girl 1: What?

Me: Oh yeah, I totally have a foot fetish.
Girl 1: No!

Me: Oh yeah. Feet are sexy.
Girls 3, 4, 5: Yeah, feet are sexy.

Girl 2: What! Look at my soles! See how gross they are!
Me: I don't like dirty feet. But, still I don't see what you're talking about.

Girl 2: How can you possibly think feet are sexy? You walk on them and they get all dirty. They're like the grossest part of the body.
Me: No. The grossest part of the body is your genitals. And you think those are sexy, right?

Girls 3, 4, 5: Exactly!

Girl 2: Well... yeah but... they're suppose to be used for sex.
Me: And biologically sex is suppose to be used for procreation. Does that make sex not used for procreation disgusting?

Girl 2: No. But... they're feet!
Me: (exaggerating her body posture and tone of voice) But... you pee out of it! (Everyone laughs)

Me: I'm just saying you can't break sex down to a material level like that. Then, everything anyone does sexually can be seen as disgusting.

Other than the fact that someone actually objected to my 'kink', this is a pretty accurate representation of people's overall impression. Usually there's like one or two people who are grossed out and everyone else is either intrigued or agrees with me.

Also, I realize this was only about feet but the point still remains that it's not as big a deal as we imagine from time to time in our heads.

I don't discuss my fetish with people I've just met... and I really wouldn't call it a fetish. I just have an appreciation of women that take special care of their feet. More often than not, by talking about it to people I'm not familiar with, I'll come off as strange.

New York City is about as opposite to the backwoods as you can find in the U.S. However, I've met several women here over the years here who thought that feet were inherently disgusting. 🙁 I have learned to ignore them and move on. 😀

good points ide say, I often find when girls hate feet, and so many of them do, its one of those things that wont even be left to opinion, "they are disgusting, end of story", not "i dont like them, but fair play to you if you do"

Maybe the girls ive met over the years are just stubborn 🙄

Besides feet, I've met people who pass off their personal tastes as something universal and objective. Like you said, instead of saying "I don't like them but fair play if you do" they'll say, "No! It's disgusting, end of story!".

Very weird.

As for feet per se, I don't run into that often here. The only time a woman will say she doesn't like feet is if she knows someone is looking at them sexually. Sort of like that Dan Savage article where the woman admits to enjoying foot rubs from her boyfriend but started hating them as soon as she found out he had a foot fetish.

The best part was, of course, when Savage read her the riot act. If someone can find that article, please post it up. That was really funny.

That's crazy!! I mean - he's her boyfriend! I mean, I could understand if it was her massage therapist or her shoe sales guy, but her boyfriend?? Maybe she was just disgusted because he hadn't been honest about it and kept it from her.

Could be because before they were just feet, and then all the attention went to them and she may had been paranoid that they wernt very nice or at least not good enuf for her boyfriend, we`r are own worst judges, especially when preassured.

I've had a similar experience.

For one thing, my last girlfriend told her friends that her new boyfriend (that's me) had a foot fetish - and they all got jealous. Jealous!

I do occasionally run into people who think feet are gross, and I generally do exactly what you do - I invoke the "but you pee out of that thing!" argument.

The other one I like to use is, "whaddaya mean, they're dirty? Haven't you ever heard of soap and water? Do you bathe?"

The only time you can't convince someone is when they say "they're gross", and when pressed for a reason, they huff, "they just are." They're not gonna budge, and you can't reason with them even if they are being irrational.

I've also gotten a lot of positive/curious responses. To be honest, no one has ever received my fetish badly. Mostly, I'd imagine, because I don't go hitting strangers over the head with it and I don't treat it like some shameful little secret. That's why I'll never understand why some people have had such bad experiences - I'm convinced they either have some kind of need to be embarassed and out themselves to people they know will reinforce their shame, or they just assume people'll react badly so they don't say anything.

I think that having a "foot fetish" is more mainstream
than a lot of people realize. I've heard so many guys over
the years including many of my friends say they have a foot fetish
or that "feet are cool" or "I like nice feet on a girl". I really don't
think it's that big of a deal.

I have however also heard a lot of girls say they think feet are
gross. Funny thing is some of those same girls never turned down
a foot massage when I offered. So who knows? Sometimes I think
people say are act as if something is weird or freaky because they
think it's the general consensus of everyone else, and that's
a shame.

Another thing to consider, though, is that foot fetishism is actively made out to be disgusting by the media. Witness all of the hate that was directed towards the 'foot fetish guy' on the Bachelorette recently. Those shows are fully scripted and carefully edited, so it's pretty obvious that someone among the higher-ups planted him and encouraged him to act like a freak so that we'd all have someone to hate... and, of course, talk about on the internet. I've read some of the comments directed at him on various other sites - stuff that would definitely put people off from admitting they had a fetish like his.
