a prayer for a stranger....

condolences

My prayers are still with your patient (or rather patients)and the family, Steph as many of us believe that God hears all prayers transcendent throughout time and space. I have taken care of several such patients myself and it is undeniably tragic. I will never forget one particular mother sobbing on my shoulder. I could only imagine what that family must be feeling. With the holidays so close, Christmas will never be the same for them. You, too, sweet angel of mercy as you are find yourself also in my prayers for whatever they may avail. As someone who like you has been called to care for the sick, I understand the pain of such things. Thank God you still have your heart and still remember these patients as human beings with lives and families. To cling to our humanity is invariably more painful, but to let it go and totally detach ourselves is certainly not worth the price.

Please accept my sincerest condolences, humble prayers, and warmest regards.

The Professor

Thank you so much Professor, for the words and for all you do also! You know, someone we both know speaks very highly of you as well...😉

XOXO

So sorry...

for your loss. I know you did everything you possible could and there is something to be said for that. She was lucky to have you looking over her

Thanks hon~Didn't do all that much really. Her children link her to the Medi-Cal program. Your state calles it Medicaid. The unit that I compete with (they have seniority over me) are most likely going to apply for assistance on her behalf so at least her family won't be stuck with the $147,000 bill...

XOXO

I'm sorry to hear that the lady died, Steph. I hope her family will take comfort in knowing that a lot of strangers were keeping her in their thoughts and prayers, thanks to you, her Guardian Angel.

Thank you Frankie! I know I'm grateful to all who kept her in their hearts. The fact that her family will probably never know makes it even more amazing, don't you think?? 🙂

XOXO

It's amazing how one person's life... or death...can create kindness and love in the hearts of total strangers.

Unfortunetely it won't bring her back, which is the most tragic thing. I know even after 10 years removed from losing my father, I would trade all that and more to have him back. My heart really goes out to the family

Of course you're right. Something the job taught me a long time ago is that there are some things that are simply out of our hands. The sad part is that her behavior probably played some part in this tragedy and the other is that God decided it was her time. I guess some things we aren't meant to question...🙁

XOXO
