A question about tickling video studios......

I've been wondering about this for a little while, so I thought I'd throw it out there to my fellow TMFers! 🙂

Has anyone noticed that with certain tickling video producers (Czech Tickling, Tickle Chicks, and French Tickling being three of them) that you can only subscribe to their video site with a membership that renews automatically? Whereas other producers, such as TA, offer subscriptions that expire after one month and won't renew automatically.

Does anyone know why this is? It strikes me as a little bit odd! Don't get me wrong, if the producers I mentioned offered a one-month subscription, I would be happy to pay, because they make excellent videos, but I wouldn't really consider a subscription that renews automatically.

My second point is that I've always been surprised that Tickle Intensive don't offer a subscription service! They're one of the very, very best studios around and it surprises me that you can only buy their work clip by clip.

Anyone have any thoughts, opinions, or answers?

Just my opinion;

Automatic renewals generate more income, because some people forget to cancel if they don't want a membership anymore, giving the producer an extra month's fees, at least.

Since they're one of the best, Tickle Intensive is one of the most pirated producers, so they're more at risk giving anyone full access for one price.

Our content is also only available via clip by clip basis, so it's not a shocker. Some content providers just aren't comfortable with the concept or may have other reasons for the business decision not to do it.

As for studios that don't automatically renew on the memberships, that's an interesting thought indeed. I had thought the default was to renew automatically unless the customer explicitly declines.

I imagine they're not all using the same system as each other, stands to reason one set-up is just inherently different from the other, and not anyone trying to trick people by charging them before the remember to unsub.

I don't think it's a trick, more like a feature of recurring memberships. Hell, that's been going on since the Columbia House record club.

I suppose it depends on your point of view but I would consider such a feature more of a convenience than a money-grabbing scheme. Like, if I have to manually renew something I'm far less inclined to do it, even if I had wanted to. Perhaps the option to autorenew should be given from the onset, but if I had to manually renew any of the games I played, honestly.. well, I'd still do it, but it would be a massive hassle. I don't consider this any different. However given the context I could understand if an individual was only interested in a month at a time, taking a break or not fully utilizing the service.

Anyway, I only wrote my post to put out one key word: convenience.

This. A lot of us use Clips4Sale's membership site service, and C4S doesn't incur a recurring charge.
