I was lucky enough to meet Marina Sirtis (of Star Trek: The Next Generation fame) an she was sporting enough to sighn my copy of "Mr. Skin's Skincyclopedia (yeah like you are so surprised I have one of those). Before I asked her too sighn it, she told me she doesn't sign anything she apears naked in. I told her she wasn't naked in the book, that the book just says where different actress are nude on film... I got a pretty sour look from her for that. On the bright side Cassandra Peterson (aka Elvira) thought the book was funny, and even read the write up on her. Ironicly Marina sighned it and Cassandra ended up signing my copy of Elvira's Haunted Hills.

My thing is this, if an actress looks good, and is actually talented (as Marina is) I don't understand why they would be upset or ashamed of anything they have done. Marina has a great body, and I am sure she did a great job in each of the films she has done some dagre of nudity in. I mean if I were in good shape I would only wear close on request (and of course when I'm at work). I honestly don't understand why somebody would be ashamed of that, when they should be proud that people like looking at them.

I know, I am messed up.

By the way, here are the movies Marina won't sign, I only have Death Wish 3.
1) Wicked Lady (1983)*
2) Blind Date (1984)**
3) Death Wish III (1985)***
4) Paradise Lost (1999)****

*With Fay Dunaway
**Kirsty Alley and (the late) Lonna Clarkson were also in this film
*** Not my favorite nude scene because she is being assaulted by thugs
**** I know nothing about this scene

Perhaps she realized that being nude on screen did nothing to further her career. I mean, I have no idea how famous she is, but I've never heard of her. And maybe she'd like to be taken seriously in her profession.

I'd imagine having someone with an encyclopedia listing which actresses/actors are naked in which movies come up to her and ask her to sign it, probably was a turn off.

God forbid a famous person with a good figure would want to be more than just an object to ogle.

Annie, come on, she did a 7 year run on Star Trek: The Next Generation. I can understand a none Trekkie not know who she is, but believe me she is well known. However I do see where you are comming from, but Monica Bellucie does all sort of nude scenes in her films, and is still respected as for both her acting as well as being admired for her beauty.

My Skincyclopedia a turn off... thats CRAZY talk!!! 😉. Besides, Elvira laughed her ass off at it... or me... or both... well so long as she laughed.

If you don't want to be ogled then you probably shouldn't get into the entertainment indastry. I would guess that most people who do (mainly guys, but some women too) ogled more then a few stars while watching movies and TV.

:canada:<- I love this guy.

Marina always acted that way at conventions bcause too many people always asked about her "porn" flicks and she wanted to be known for her later credits and not that...

She always said that at conventions..

I to have met her and had her sign 2 pictures both of which do nt do her beauty justice....

I don't think any of her films were porn films.

I've met Marina before, too (and I still wonder how she gets her skin so incredibly soft!!), and what I think is just that she doesn't want to talk about these scenes because they have nothing to do with what she is famous for!

Most likely, you will meet her on a Star Trek convention! I mean - you like her because she was Troi, not because she got her dress whipped down by Faye Dunaway! So why would you have her sign shit that doesn't have to do with Troi? Just because there you saw her boobs?

I understand why that pisses her off, because she is everything but prudish! 🙂

I like her because she is a talented (and beautiful) actress, I know of her because she played Troy. I didn't force her to sign the book, I had a copy of Insurection on me at well. I just don't think that a beautiful woman (or men for that matter) should be embarassed by having done nudity in a film, they should be proud of the fact that they look good and that people like looking at them. I'm not saying I don't like Marina, I'm saying I just don't understand her on this subject. Besides if I show up with a copy of anything she has been in she should sign it because I am a fan, and in line with my $25.00. If it's Star Trek: TNG related or if it's a copy of Paradice Lost, anything shy of a stolen Sex Tape (witch would be REALLY wrong to bring to something like that). If there were more people like Cassandra Peterson or Chatherine Bach the world would be a much more relaxed place.

As I said if I were in shape (like saye Mathew MacConaughey) I would probably sit around playing the bongo's nakes. Then again I hear he already does lol.

I met Marina Sirtis once. I actually clotheslined her. Knocked her down and everything.
Me and my best friend ran at warp speed from that convention!

But, she did seem really nice.

I didn't try to say you liked her for anything else. 🙂

But you know, she is a good-looking woman when she is dressed, too. 🙂 So maybe she is not very proud of these early roles. I would think she's not, because let's be honest: she only had these roles to show boobs. That's what they were all about. She didn't do a whole lot of acting. She doesn't want to be reminded of them. She wants to be known for acting, not for boobs.

And we all know that Troi was the sexy chick on the Enterprise, she was there to collect "sex points"! Why else would she have been the only one to not wear a uniform, but instead this ridiculously tight attire with the huge cleavage?? She fought six seasons until she finally got the uniform like everybody else, and then someone comes and wants to get a boob movie signed. 🙂 I can understand perfectly why she doesn't want to sign it!

Well one day, in about 10-15 more years she will look back and think "Maybe I should have enjoyed the attention a little bit more back then.". I remember a quote of Selma Hayek once "I used to get angry when all I got were sexy roles, now I think it's flatering.", one day when she is 60 Marina will look back smack herself on the forhead and wonder why she gave a damn.

You really can't understand why a woman wants to get credit for more than the way she looks? I think she will never be happy with being the show-bimbo! 🙂

Maybe it's just me, but I prefered her in uniform myself. I thought she looked much better.

Are you calling Selma Hayek a Show Bimbo?

No, I am calling Marina Sirtis a show bimbo! That was the reason behind Troi, at least before they finally dared to give her a little credibility in season 7, when the show was almost over anyways!

Me too! But I think she also lost a lot of weight at that point. The producers had claimed before not to give her the uniform because it didn't look good on her.

That was a cop out on the Producers part. She never had a bad figure.

I know. Sentences like that make girls go into anorexia!

I do know none of the women on the show were aloud to have breast smaller then a C-Cup, if they did then they were given padded braws. It brings new meaning to what Crusher and Troy talk about in Star Trek: Insurection.

Wicked Lady is an 80s skin flick - one of those films that didn't quite qualify for an X rating but was definitely at the high end of R. Sirtis plays a bit part (her character's name is "Jackson's Lady"), and her nude scene comes when she's being whipped topless by Faye Dunaway. It's the climax to a screaming catfight.

This is an example of why actresses may want to distance themselves from early nude work. In the movie industry there is sometimes a stigma attached to nude work: it's the sort of thing that a young, pretty actress may find herself doing just to break into the business, or because a more established actress won't do it.

This isn't always the case: sometimes nudity is important to the overall plot of a movie, and in that case a well-known actress may be willing to do it. But even then you will often find the nude work being handled by a body double. In movies like Wicked Lady or Death Wish 3 you mainly have gratuitous nudity done to punch up the sexual impact of a scene, generally performed by very minor actresses.

That's what Sirtis was in the early-to-mid 80s: a minor actress with a pretty face and nice breasts. Her face and her breasts were the main things that got her hired, and so she ended up showing them off a lot. Her roles in that period had names like "Jackson's Lady," "Girl in Porsche," and "Hooker." These are not glamour parts.

STTNG became a breakout role for Sirtis, but in the beginning she was still mainly the face and the breasts: eye candy who looked very good in a stretch knit bodysuit. Having finally clawed her way out of the tit ghetto, it's not surprising that she doesn't want to encourage fans to keep thinking of her that way by signing her nude work.

Quoted for absolute truth! :iagree:

I can't comment on anything other then Death Wish because I haven't seen the others. I do agree that most of that scene was unnessisary simply because once the thug tore her shirt, exposed one of her right breast and then pulled her into a car it's pretty obvious what there intension are. Personaly I was not found of this scene. However if I brought a copy of it to a Convention I think she should sighn it, just as if I brought a copy of TNG season one. Some people migh not beable to drop $90.00 for a season of Star Trek, but they can still thow down $15.oo for a copy of Death Wish III or some of her other stuff.

I'm not the biggest fan of Sly Stalone (just got the Rocky and Rambo flicks) but if somebody wanted him to sighn that movie where he has his nude scene I think he should sign it to.

She's also signing nice little pictures for $ 1! 🙂 You don't have to spend 90 for a season of TNG (which I admit is ridiculously high and the reason I haven't bought a single season!).

What she "should" sign is her decision! If she doesn't want to sign Death Wish III for the reasons mentioned, you should respect her wish!

Where did you get a picture signed for $1 ? It was a standard $25.00 for an autograph no matter what she was signing.
