The City of New Orleans did not follow ITS OWN emergency plan. It was posted on its website, how to act in this event. It did not follow its own plan. The mayor told citizens as well as the weather service and news outlets before Katrina hit "Looks like New Orleans escaped a bad situation". So the government relied upon those reports and started to move supplies to the Gulf Coast which in contrast were destroyed worse than New Orleans.

Not even to mention the "Dont bring food to the Superdome, just bring enough for 1 day" and New Orleans decision not to supply the Superdome with more supplies before the storm hit.

As for Red Cross personel not being allowed in, you had roving gangs of armed thugs. The Red Cross themselves were concerned enough to themselves state they could not go in to N.O. without protection.

So yes, you can blame some (not all) of it on the lack of decisions made by the city of New Orleans itself and its citizens. Yes the federal government made A LOT of mistakes. But if the emergency plan HAD been followed, you would have had less than 5% of the population there and the tragedy would not have been as bad.

It was about Katrina right. Bush did not care about blacks. Right. Like the other black people there that had buses, cars and the cities own plan to use the school buses caused the problems. Or the fact that J.Jackson and Al Sharpton had plenty of time to get their own churches and people in that area to check on the poor. Bush was obviously responsible for making sure every single person was okay. And certainly no responsibility for themselves when you are told "GET OUT OF NEW ORLEANS" and you decide not to or call for help before.

When Katrina hit, I was in Texas at a gathering. My hotel filled up with Katrina survivors pretty quickly. My conversations were EXCLUSIVELY with white people and their families. If you think what Kanye said was explosive, you should've heard what the actual survivors had to say to me directly. Not only did they think Bush hated blacks, they felt that he didn't care about the gays or elderly. It was pretty pathetic from the seat I was sitting that day.

Now, did I think Kenye was right and calledl it correctly? Based on the many conversations I had with ACTUAL survivors.......yes he was dead on. However, to openly diss the president of the US at the time was dead ass wrong! Who was he to think he should do that on a global platform? He's an idiot, plain and simple. As a mother, I'm glad his mother isn't here to try to field and continuously protect his sorry ass from himself.

I'm sorry Tam and Ticklefiend......Kanye blew it big time! He managed to bully and steal the thunder from a 19 year old girl having her moment in the sun. She did what she needed to do to get the award....why not just let her have her day? Beyonce has so many awards to sit in her trophy case.....Taylor is a country artist who managed to get more attention in her vid than Beyonce on MTV. Do you think Beyonce lost five cents over that moment? Hell no she didn't! I'm glad she showed the professionalism and compassion to give Taylor her "moment" because Kenye totally f-d it up for her. Yeah, no one died physically, but did you see the look on her face? Did you see how Beyonce responded when Kenye called her out? I'm sure Jay-Z had more than a few words to say to him later on..........

Coming from a mother's POV, if I were Kenye's mother, I'd be hanging my head in total and complete shame. The good news is that she's not here to see how her son acted a complete and total (Oh how did Obama say it) Jackass on a global stage over too much Hennessy and a huge Napoleon complex.

I never cared for Kanye West. Sure the guy makes music, and i'm happy for him, but he seems/seemed to have this napolean complex that he must be the center of attention at any and all times, and he must always get his way..

Ever since the whole " George Bush don't like Black People" outburst, Kanye has kept making dumbass after dumbass statements and making an ass out of himself. The only reason people never called him out before was because, ohh how do I say this, a celeb who throwed his fame and money around.

But after the VWAs, I do believe that he may have took this a little too far. Who gave him the right to go up, steal the mic from Taylor Swift who has just won her first major award, and say that beyonce had one of the best videos of all time? What was going through that pea-brain head of his I will never understand.

I'm kinda glad people are not letting this go, and and calling him out on what a dick move he has done. Obama calling him a jackass, Donald Trump proposing a boycott of kanye related items, kelly clarkson, etc...Hopefully this will help him to reevaulate himself as a person.

Well I've never really cared for the actions of celebrities but this whole stunt is good for him. He's seen what he can and can't get away with and learned that he is most assuredly not the voice of the generation.

He's learned his lesson, but I think boycotts and public condemnations are overkill. Its probably about time to drop it.

Race has allot to do with it I am afraid. I know of 3 big momments where Kanye has jumped up and down on his hat. The first during the big flood, (where he may have had a point) the 2nd was when he bitched about Britney Spears performing on an the VMA or MTV Awards (he remared "Maybe I am the wrong color, or some bull shit) and now his crap with Taylor Swift, claiming Beyonce's was better. It seems every time this guy opens the shitter between his ears his rants are racially motivated.

And for the record, the VMAs are voted on by the fans, while Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences votes in the winners for the Oscars, not the viewers. Like most organizations, the Academy is extremely political. Denzel is widely regarded as a gracious gentleman, while, despite his monster talent, Russell Crowe (like Kanye) is widely regarded as an asshole--the Academy HATES him and he hates them back. That's why he didn't win.
You can paint it any color you like but bad behavior is still bad behavior.

I agree Russell has that Bad Boy rep, and some people sort of dig it, but bad behavior isn't always "just bad behavior". Nobody can really accuse Crowe of being Politacaly/Racially Motivated when he threw that phone. Denzel isn't so sweet eather. I heard he carries a thermometer with him, and when he orders a coffe he checks the tempature, if it's not a certain temp he sends it back.
