Anybody else hate the term "tickle rape"?

Haha yer im afraid the english language has gone down hill. I used to be more precise and that with my english, but i eventually just gave up and i was always bein told off for sendin long texts so ofcourse to shorten em, i had to convert to abbreviated versions of words. But yer every round my age seems to talk like this now. I cant understand some of the texts myself from my cuz who's the same age as me and a friend who's actually a few yrs older than me haha!

You have some special smarts about you that might not fit into your age group. It is much easier to understand you if you use regular English. You're a very smart and intuitive young woman and it would be much easier if you'd express that in a language easier to understand.

Oh were ya haha. Not surprised u kept out of it lol. I figured that cud b the case. Who do u think won or was in the right there then, ref? Haha jk it doesnt reli matter lol. There r more important things😉.

Also, I don't think 'tickle rape' is meant to be offensive.

But seriously, no one is going to be able to take your post seriously if you sound like a thirteen year old.

Oh very funny 🙄 haha! There's always one :jester:😛 lol. Nice pic. Though goin of that i thought u were a girl. Sori m8 haha. Friends of urs maybe 😉😀 lol.

Oh i know it's not MEANT to be offensive, but then there a lot of things people say that arent offensive but are to some people. And im not partic offended by it. I just hate the idea of it and the idea it conjures up in people's minds, and i feel like it put's a bad name or tag if you will, on the tickling world as it were, really. So that's wot annoys me and makes me a little angry about it. Im not angry at the people that say it, just the term they've come to use for it. I mean we would probably use the term "tickle torture" instead of that right? And im fine with that, it makes perfect sense and doesnt partic give people a bit of a distorted view on tickling. But hey perhaps that's just the minority of us that feel this way. It seems most of us arent bothered by it. It's cool.

Thanks for the heads up. And a 13 yr old GIRL at that apparantly :s. And i reali cant seem to get rid of this bad habit now can i haha. I reali have been converted :s lol. But yer like i said, some1 older than me who's also a guy, texts worse than me sometimes! I cant understand wot he means and feel stupid having to ask him. Even though i knw i shudnt coz it's not english anyway haha! Silly or what lol. The world certainly is an upside down place haha. Thanks for your contribution.

I've heard the term before (in HS years ago).

It's offputting and I'm not fond of it, but it is what it is.

Er....um.......duh! What can I say? I messed that one up for sure!

Sorry about that--other than screwing up your gender all is well with the world. At least I hope so.

I actually think its a rather pleasant term in comparison, I feel that way because rape means to have sex with someone without theyre consent.

So technically tickle rape means to tickle someone without theyre consent, and that happens everyday and is far nicer a concept than actual rape.

Thats how I read it anyway.

oh my god, dude!

Yer exactly 27, c lol. Im 19. No i dont actually know y i put paragraph, and yer i just realised i spelt it wrong haha. So wot? im not tryin to b politically correct or anythin. Im not tryna spell everythin exactly rite. It's like a short hand type thing. Anywho y u gettin so defensive and agressive for?? Dont c the point. And i have been to high school too m8. Oh wow impressive u've taken a keyboard typin course- whoop de doo. Who on earth cares about that haha? U can hardly get a job with just that can ya lol? Maybe u shud have taken a more advanced course like the components of a computer, hardware and software, like I did!

I can tell u now though, that high school has changed a lot since u've been so yer like i said MY generation.

geez for the love of god type out the whole word, and spell check will you!
you're quite maddening, really!

Referring to the original post:

I have seen young women typing on here actually using the word *rapes* in threads when they want to give their approval on something, and since I don't know any of them, I really can't say why they do it.

However, I think it is just the way they talk to each other. I don't put a lot of importance on it now, but when I first saw it I was surprised that the word was thrown around so easily.

Rape is not a word that I enjoy hearing in general, or reading in text. It doesn't bring about feelings of enjoyment or pleasure. But it's a free country, and some people don't always say things I like.

I object to that, I'm only 20 and I haven't used any kind of text language since I was 14. I think if any of my friends communicated to me in that way now I'd turn up at their house and slap them, but thats just me 😀

I can't really add much to the actual topic of this thread, I've heard the term a couple of times but didn't really pay much attention to it. Maybe I've become so desensitized it would take something like 'tickle genocide' (not sure how that would work) to turn my head. I agree with Haribish that it may be accurate in terms of description, and since it doesn't involve actual rape, the use of the word doesn't bother me. But then I don't know anyone who's been raped, or anyone who know's someone who's been raped. If I did then I may think differently...

I don't like the term either. So, I agree with you there. Having been raped for real, it just doesn't sit well with me.

As for all the comments about your texting shorthand and your responses... It's perfectly valid to use that when texting, especially when you're limitted on length. But, it's much easier for others to read and understand your meaning when you type things out. Since you don't get charged extra for longer posts here, I (and others) would much appreciate it if you write things out. Being dyslexic, I often just ignore things that aren't typed out since they're more difficult to decyfer. It also tends to lessen the number of questions about age! lol

It is accurate; the term properly describes what happens in an actual run-of-the-mill tickling, more likely outside of our small group but not always, I would say. However, accurate or not, rape still has that nasty bit of connotation behind it.

I went looking for synonyms to see if I could find a more appropriate term but... well, rape fits too well, sadly. One definition I happened upon was sexual assault, which... well, in our context, it could easily be. So, hm.

Although, I giggled when I saw a synonym as abuse. Tickle Abuse. Hah.

Derailing the thread further: I don't mind when people type like that, but I wish they wouldn't. But then, as a writer watching my language bastardized... makes me a little biased. Regardless, yeah, the gaming forums I check out.. about half the posts are like that. I giggled when I saw it and posted a response 😱.

Etc~

I don't even like the term Ticklephile, so tickle rape is not a term that apeals to me.

Words are just that.

However, if I'm watching a particularly good episode of, idunnomaybeforexample Buffy the Vampire Slayer...a large part of my enjoyment comes from getting a sense of Whedon's intentions. Referring back to an issue that comes from outside the show, knowing that one of the writers is kidding, yet making a serious statement. On the surface, words are just words. Next level down, words become story and clever dialogue. Next level down they become resonant of the personality of the creators, writers, actors, everyone involved.

So when someone is unaware enough to use a phrase like "ticklerape" (if I'm not mistaken, it can be found in one of the way early TickleHell stories) it detracts from the whole shape of the story. The intention of someone who just doesn't understand the words they are using isn't worth knowing. The undercurrent of the story is likely (and yes, only likely) selfish and edged with immature violence.

Meh.

Leads into literary theory.

There are a bunch of theories that are used to analyze literature, such as biographical, historical, etc. Most of them are pretty self explanatory. This post is relevant to a few, though; specifically deconstruction and reader's response.

Reader's response is pretty straightforward; it applies the concept that the reader is more important than the writer, which has some truth to it; a reader can apply all sorts of things that a writer might not necessarily intend. For example... and this is a shit one, so don't read too into it... the role of a family member in one's life as opposed to the role of that same type of family member in a written work (like, a mother). Maybe my mother abused me as a child, and as such I view all mothers, or even women, negatively, so that, when I read a particular story, I happen upon things that, although are literally present, I may be misinterpreting or asserting on my own. Reader's response would value these sorts of interpretations and say that the reader contributes just as much to a story as the writer, if not more (and I think most people that associate themselves with this theory would argue that the reader is far more important than either the written piece of the writer).

Deconstruction is a little trickier... but I think I can get at it a little bit by saying words by themselves are meaningless; that a word might have a connotation to it, but that is something we imply, not something that is necessarily present. It has to do with signifiers and signifieds, which is a complicated way to say a word in association to what the word MAY refer to (deconstruction looks for these words and looks at what else they might be referring to, in an attempt to pull more out from the story; if I used tickle-rape in something that wasn't tickle fetish related, there would be a lot going on there from a deconstructionist point of view, as it would be implying all of those rape-esque motifs). But yeah, the signified thing is a fancy way for saying something along the lines of tree = tree; signifier tree refers to signified tree; tree = flower; I say or write tree but actually mean what we might refer to as a flower, calling attention to the meaninglessness of words in relation to ideas/'reality'.

I dunno, thought all of that was relevant.

At least it fascinates me.

Etc~

Ok. You have a naked woman tied to the bed spread and helpless and you tickle the hell out of her who can not defend herself and no matter how much she screams "Stop, please stop!" you keep tickling her and the more she begs the more you tickle her.

If you take out the fantasy scenario, what would you call that?

A good selling video....lol 🙂

Prof D: crying D: D: D:.

The scenario listed there is kind of vague. People who enjoy it can still beg, and the situation could have been consensual to begin with.

Etc~

Why have ticklerape...when you can have ticklesnape! :3

Serious answer now. The term doesn't bother or offend me to be honest, even if I don't find noncon scenarios to be my cup of tea. As ever, I'd only use the term depending on who I was talking to, and whether I know they're going to become offended by it or not.
