Anybody have Twitter?

i've been thinking about getting it for my theatre company, and maybe for me as well, but haven't yet..
 
I've been trying to resist getting one, but just about everyone I know has one at this point and I feel left out. o_o
 
I'm really afraid... I have a facebook, myspace, crueltyfree, tmf profile... I just don't want to sign up for something else.............agghhhhhh

that's part of the reason i don't have a facebook bc i have myspace, and i also have high5, and friendster and those two i never get on, and i don't want to add facebook to something I sign up for and never use since all i care about is myspace
 
I just cancelled my Twitter account after not liking it very much. The format is too messy. But I'm sure following you would make it worthwhile for some, Addie.

No kiddin'! I barely look at my Myspace and Facebook accounts anymore. Every new social network, micro-blog thing that comes along becomes just one more tab to check. There's simply not enough time in the day!

I want to learn Twitter. Right now it's this goofy thing that makes no sense, and the people who've tried to explain it didn't do a good job.

I didn't understand it at first, either, but it's actually a very simple concept. It's called "micro-blogging," which is like blogging, except that Twitter limits users to typing blogs in 140 characters or less. Basically, it's a means to record or "tweet" every fleeting thought you have at any moment that you feel like sharing with the world. Celebrities use it, some for basic tweeting, and others for advertising projects, or links to other websites. I use it every now and again, but only when I think I have a one-line sentence worth saying. I find it more entertaining to read the "tweets" of certain celebrities, like the former cast-members of Star Trek: the Next Generation. That, and I really like http://twitter.com/secrettweet, which is kinda like Post Secret, in which people can direct message personal, private things, and Secret Tweet posts them anonymously. Some of them are quite funny and shocking to read.

too true FF... so very true...

I have abandoned Myspace... I have facebook just for family and friends
I do use Fetlife.com on a daily basis to keep up with the BDSM community
and twitter is really good just to be kept up on things. Like if you are into Addie or our videos... it's good to follow us so we can let you know when we have something new out etc.

By the way... your sig image with that long quote is great....

hmmmm... you seem way too rational and intelligent for this place.... you better get outta here quick and away from us crazies 😉

no but if someone could explain to me what this phemomena known as twitter is that would be great...by which i mean what does it do that facebook/myspace doesnt??

Addie's Twitter Instructions

1. Go online to http://www.twitter.com and register for an account.

2. If you have an Iphone, Smartphone, Googlephone, or anything that allows applications, you can get an application, which is one of the best parts! Go to your app store and get one of the Twitter apps - Tweetie, Twitterfon, Twitfire, etc. There are several.

3. You can also set it up to send texts to your phone. You can select which people's updates you want to receive as text messages.

4. If you don't opt for #2 or #3, just do it online! Find people you know or are interested in using the search. Then select to "follow" them.

5. Post updates about your business, personal life or anything you want! Everyone who is "following" you will see them, but not the people who you are following. These are two different groups of people. You can be following eachother, but you don't necessarily have to follow who is following you. Make sense? 🙂

6. You can send a message to a person (but everyone will see it) by typing "@ and then their twitter name". For example, I would be @addiejuniper.

7. You can also send "direct" or "private" messages and only that person will see it.

A simpler interface and instant information. Straight to your phone (if you have this option). You really have to just try it out to "get" it. 🙂
