Anybody Hear That MadTV Got Canceled?

After a 14 year run, FOX has now pulled the plug on MadTV.

I honestly just started watching it again - though maybe they weren't new episodes, they were at least recent, though. It's still pretty funny.

Eh. I didn't find it all that amusing, really. Occasionally it was alright and made me grin a bit, but that's about as far as it goes.

The end of Mad TV, eh? Oh well. I thought it was funnier back in the day when they used to run the Spy vs. Spy cartoons. King of the Hill is getting the ax as well, FYI. Knowing FOX, they'll replace both with shows that get even worse ratings. 😛

I think the original cast was hilarious.

Later cast members that were added after others left such as Mo Collins and Will Sasso brought a lot to the table.

The rest sucked shit.

I didn't mind that much when she left. She was borderline annoying too often, and her Miss Swan character was DEFINITELY annoying.

That said, it was bound to happen, but eh. I wonder if it's a coincidence that this happened after SNL started getting massive boosts in ratings?

Very good point.

As for Borstein, she (and her characters) were no less annoying than Michael McDonald and his 1,000,000 'Stuart' sketches, IMO.

WHAT THE FUCK?!

I remember watching it when it first premiered! Has it really fucking been 14 years?! Dear God where has my life gone?

And I was always mystified by the hatred for MadTV: their movie parodies were almost dead-smack on after The Ben Stiller Show got canceled. The cast members all had their various strengths, and usually the strong ones carried the work of the weaker ones, but I found things even in later years that were funnier than entire YEARS of skits on SNL.

Although I will admit that I hated the Stewart character with a passion.

I'm sorry to hear it (I LOVED Will's Kenny Rogers in Jackass BTW.) For me, SNL has gone thru it's run of amazing/suckass casts and when it sucked the most, I was so glad to have Mad there to turn to. I haven't loved all of the Mad casts but color me bummed.
