anybody here scared of Death?

im deathly afraid of death.

worst. joke. ever.

anyway, those of us who dont have the hope from the promises of religion to fall back on are afraid of the nothingness we believe death brings, because the most common fear we all have is the fear of the unknown.

my current belief is that death is just that, an infinite nothingness of which we are completely unaware of. eerie thought, isnt it? we'll see if that thought changes later after i finish up my second round of research, solidifying my religious and philosophical beliefs.

I can think of some horrible ways to die. I can't say as I'd welcome them. But, death itself? Nope. I trust in God's love and mercy. Besides, I can hardly wait to get rid of the distractions of this life and just be with Him!

I would have to say that I am not so much afraid of dying as I am afraid of the pain and/or potential lenghty illness leading up to death.

I am a live-in caregiver to a man who is 78 years old. He suffered a stroke in 1998. One of the major side effects from the stroke is vestibular damage in his left ear which keeps him nausious and dizzy most of the waking day. He had major back surgery in 1990, he is being treated for Prostate cancer and beginning stages of Alzheiners Disease.

He feels miserable most of the time and he has told me a number of times that if he had a gun he would have used it on himself by now.

When I go out, I hope that it is so quick that I do not have time to feel pain or terror.

I do believe that what awaits us on the other side will be better that what we have now - especially when you watch the lead stories in the news.

nope, i'm not affraid of death

but i'm not looking forward to it! i'll miss my family. at least as i sit here alive, and thinking of death, it would stop me from seeing my kids, and family, and friends, etc.

on the other hand ,if i'm not just reincarnated right away, and get to spend some time with god, it will be a good chance to ask some of the questions i'm been wondering about.

No fear whatsoever--call me twisted but in fact, i welcome it...my high school sweetheart, Danny, died (only bf from 16 to 19) when I was 19. Since then I've lost 9 friends and can't wait to see them again...Billy Joel said only the good die young and I think there might be something to it...
