I can't stop doing it! When I am at work, I don't do it often, but at home, all the time! Dunno why I do it, it just feels kinda good. Anyone else have this problem?

I know it can't possibly be good for you.

I do it quite a bit, actually. I don't think there's any truth to the idea it can give you arthritis, it's generally more of an annoyance to others than it is any sort of problem for one's self.

I do it too. Without even realising I do it at times.

I don't consider it a problem, but yes, I do it all the time. My knuckles crack the loudest of most anyone I know, as well, which comes in handy when portraying a "heavy" in a play -- which for some reason, I always seem to be cast as...

Beats me as to why. I see myself very much a medium-sized, quiet, friendly, long-haired hippie-sort... But everyone seems to think I'm big and intimidating.

Crap, they should see where I work... I'm practically miniscule there.

Yeah, reading that post made me crack mine just now.

I really don't think it's all that bad for you, really. Just, like Strider said, some people find it annoying.

I've been cracking my knuckles for as long as I can remember, :upsidedow but recently the middle finger on my left hand has been swollen, and I'm not sure if it's due to the cracking, or if I hurt it unknowingly. But 2 nights ago, I was cracking them as usual, and I totally forgot about that finger and I cracked it, and was in a decent amount of pain, and of course now, it's swollen worse than before. Just about every joint on my body makes some noise when I walk, especially my knee.

Like staring at ladies soles, yes I'm addicted to popping my battle spikes...errr knuckles!

another old wives tale!
i have been told by an orthopedic surgeon, and a chiropractor, and learned in nursing school that "cracking" your knuckles doesn't do anything. no arthritis, no anything. so don't worry.

I don't think I'm addicted to it, but, I do it lol but perhaps I'm in denial

I also crack/click my ankles and knees a lot too *shame* :Grrr:

Knuckles, toes, ankles, knees, elbows, wrists, back and neck. Once in a while a hip will pop, but that's by accident, can't do it if I'm trying.

i do it because sometimes if i don't i have a hard time getting a good grip on my crutches...also i can crack my knees, back, hips, neck and wrists.

It's harmless, it doesn't give you arthritis, it's an old wive's tale invited by your moms who found it annoying...
XOXO
