And if so..is it worth going to the movies to see..we hardly ever go..but the trailer for this movie looked intriguing..and if it's still playing around the holidays, we might go...has anyone seen it? I love John Cusack...thanks

I didn't watch it, but my Mum, Brother & other family members went to watch it.

Mum didn't like the movie's storyline.

Brother thought it was ok...

So my impression is: Don't bother watching it. Even with those wonderful special effects.

Just wait till it arrives in DVD/Blu-ray.

Or you could switch to another movie in the theatres. 😉

Go see "Avatar" or "Princess and the Frog". Or "A Christmas Carol".

Don't support the Roland Emmerich Disaster Movie Disaster Operation anymore! 😀

I'd just like to point out that "A Christmas Carol" is very much an adult oriented movie (even though it teaches a valuable lesson about morality) and has scenes that could very well cause a little one to burst out crying. Please consider renting "A Muppet Christmas" instead via net flick instead of taking your little one to see "A Christmas Carol". ^_~

If you've seen the same director's "Day After Tomorrow", you can use that as a yardstick. "2012" is filled with the same sanctimony, lazy scripting, empty spectacle and non-characters. The vaporizing of Yosemite via super-volcano is a great fireworks show, but it only lasts a couple of minutes and I can't think of anything else I'd send anyone to the movie to see. It's also long (I was good and cramped up toward the end), made to seem more so by plenty of vapid dialogue between the blow-ups. Roland Emmerich's made enough money out of this bow-wow... hunt up "A Serious Man" instead.

I enjoyed the 2012 flick but it is more appropriate for summer blockbuster release than now... 2 and a half hours long! I'm waiting to see whether the Stupid Movie Physics page says it tops The Core as the all-time least realistic sci-fi movie because it has a few real face-palmer moments. ok good to know..i won't waste my money or time..i can't sit still that long anyhow..

Nerrad...*smack*

Most current movies suck. Don't take my word for it. Watch a few and see if you don't agree!

Someone informed me that, when showing the worldwide destruction of numerous man-made landmarks(to give the feel of total global disaster), they purposefully steered away from showing any Muslim sites out of the usual PC concerns. Fuck that. If you're going to show Christian, Hindu, Buddhist and other landmarks destroyed, don't leave out the largest religion in the world. Typical chickenshit Hollywood execs.

The whole premise sounds like cockamamie nonsense, anyway.

I understand that bookstores now give a free Mayan calendar with every copy of the Palin memoirs.

I was thinking about going to see it but maybe now i won't.
