It pisses me off too! I have a nice bottle that i wanna do something artistic with because it's empty. But i can't get the last bit of glue off. So it looks all shitty.
 
Did you know I can solve your glue-label problems?

They sell something called Goo-gone, takes that right off. Also rubbing some vegetable oil on and scrubbing with paper towel will do the trick too. Or soaking it in water overnight. For adhesive sprays for art projects, I use Orange Cleaner, smells divine and immediately removes any sticky substance...within reason. Pervs.
