Atlanta/Wisconsin killings...........

Oh Lordy!!!.....

.....what difference does it make how many "pounds" people weigh?? the officer had a gun. Lets try and spell it out for you.Situation number one:- Officer has gun, prisoner takes gun, people die. Situation number two:- Officer has NO gun, prisoner takes gun......ah...right.....mmmm...."officer has no gun".....ok Red....I see what you mean. (doh! )

Pounds, pounds, pounds!!! are you buying groceries or talking about gun laws??

As for the argument that, "if you all have them you might as well keep them," is that really a serious argument against gun control? I presume you dont include U.S. based muslim terrorists in that group?

Did you read the part about the prisoner not being handcuffed and being accompanied by a women half his size?

As for the second ammendment...........

.....what happened to the "well regulated militias"?

Spoken by someone who's obviously NEVER arrested a felon or escorted a criminal into a courtroom in his life.

Friend, I live in a county with over 100,000 residents. We average only 1 homicide a year in this county....and there are NO gun laws here pertaining to law abiding citizens. Virtually everyone in Douglas County, Georgia owns guns....yet there is no gun violence problem, virtually no murders, and very little crime whatsoever.

Why? BECAUSE most folks here are LAW ABIDING citizens...we obey the law, we support our law enforcement officers.
We begin teaching our kids young to respect guns; teach them gun safety; teach them guns will kill if MIS-USED or handled carelessly; we keep our guns locked and out of the hands of small children.

When someone living here or visiting Douglas County commits a crime involving a firearm, they pay for it with serious prison time. I can't remember the last time a jury here failed to impose a death sentence on a convicted murderer. If a Douglas County law officer is forced to shoot and kill a criminal, we support his actions to protect us.

Gun ownership by most citizens and lack of gun control isn't the cause of senseless gun violence....Douglasville and Douglas County, Georgia are living proof.

You can run your big mouth from another country all you wish, but I live here....and know a gun in the hands of a trained, law abiding citizen is a crime deterrent that will SAVE lives.....not end them.

Jolly good..........

...so...its all sorted then, the U.S. does NOT have a major problem with gun crime. If only I had known this earlier there would have been no need for me to run my big mouth off.

Its posts like the one above this that can make one feel so humble.

I grew up in a house fulls of guns. My father was a champion in skeet and my brother was a police officer. I was one of thsoe well-trained people Kootchie refers to. The problems is not with the guns and ownership thereof. It is in the problem of an uneducated society where guns = power, yo!

My brother was shot by someone in the line of duty. The gun belonged to a law enforcement officer and it was stolen by the perp who decided he was bulletproof and thought he'd use any means possible to get away. This was after he beat a woman to death with his bare hands. IT is the mentality of the person who is pulling the trigger, not that the trigger exists. As was so obviously pointed out in a post about , what was it? Switzerland?

I wonder if people are suggesting the law enforcement not be allowed to carry weapons? That would bring about an interesting rise in crime. LOL It's not Mayberry with the sherrif with no bullets.

Gun control, abortion, education, blah blah blah....

Anything is dangerous in the wrong hands.

Especially a feather. 😛

I should clarify quick, so that I do not get lumped into that group of folks who feel guns should be completely outlawed, that I am NOT against guns, I only want to see ownership reform.

I absolutely feel police and security and protective services should carry weapons. And I feel citizens should have the right to own certain guns. But I do feel the ownership application process should be reformed. I feel people who have any criminal charges on their records at all should not be allowed to own guns. I feel it should be law that you have to complete a gun safety course and be certified in gun ownership before being given a license to have one. I feel you should also have to submit to a mental/emotional screening before being allowed to possess a weapon. I also feel the legal right to own some weapons is ridiculous. Why the hell would anyone need an AK-47?? What on earth could you ever possibly do with a weapon like that? Is Godzilla roaming the streets?? It's absurd.

Anyway, carry on. Forgive my intrusion. I just wanted to make that clear quick before I start getting hate mail from Charlton Heston.
