I was lucky enough to see James Cameron's first feature length film in 12 years today in IMAX 3D... and it was more than just good... It was groundbreaking! This guy is the premier action/sci-fi director working right now...

If you have a chance, go see it... I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I saw it as well not in IMAX3D do to the fact that that tickets were sold out. I did however see it in 3D and I must say that even though its still not my favorite movie of all time (that belongs to the sting) it really did blow my mind visually.

I hope to see the movie this week. I have not been to a movie in ages.

I wanna see it. It looks really amazing, but money's a little tight because of the holidays. 😀

I'll be honest, the previews to it haven't really impressed me that much. But since everyone who has seen it, including the critics, have said it was incredible, I will probably go see it.

I'm stoked. I think the previews don't look all that ZOMG because it's in 2D and it's meant to be seen in 3D.

So........you're caving into peer pressure.......:smilestar

It's supposed to actually change the way your brain functions is how amazing the movie is. Seriously.

Blind men will see, animals will speak sorta thing. 😀

Now that you said that......during the middle of the movie there WAS a guy who leapt out of his seat shouting, "I can see!!! This movie is amazing!"...I told him to sit down and shut up because people were trying to watch the movie.

Seriously. Great movie. Go see it! :dogpile:

TOLDJA!!! It's already changed the direction the earth spins. Just as James Cameron said it would.

Repeat viewings turn your skin blue.

I am gonna go see it but prob next week. Been so busy this last week I didn't get tickets. No chance of seeing this weekend. 🙁

I admit I had my doubts about it, but having seen it, it truly was fantastic! The CGI and world of Pandora was spectacular. I highly advise anyone who hasn't seen it to do so if they have a chance.

I just saw it tonight. It was awsome!! I didn't really expect it to be that good. Man!!

I love it when a movie turns out to be totally better than you thought it would.

Yeah, that's always a fantastic feeling...

It is a creative, colorful world Cameron has set up... If the film does very well, and it looks like it will, there will more than likely be 2 sequels...

Interesting you mention sequels. This is actually supposed to be his answer to LOTR.

I was expecting this to be good, but not as good as the hype suggested. I was wrong, it was awesome. Great film, go see it.

Saw it yesterday. Besides the fact that I was sitting behind the tallest fucking guy in the theater, it was great. It was the first 3D movie I've seen, and it took me about an hour to get used to everything. After that I let the movie take me into its world. This movie is gushing with creativity.

Hmmm... I've been skeptical... but I guess I'll have to go check it out 🙂 Besides, 3D shows are epic! 😀

Isn't it just Dances with Wolves with future cartoons? I'm sorry, but the previews have looked awful. A trite plot mixed with lots of fake/cartoony looking eye-candy. Yuck.

I'll never forgive Cameron for Titanic.

I wasn't too sure how good it would be after seeing the previews. Frankly, I found them rather disappointing. They indicated that the movie was quite different from what I was hoping from an epic Cameron Sci-Fi movie, and not in a way that I liked. I have to say, Cameron's "Aliens" is easily among my top five favorite movies of all time (and I'd have a hard time naming four that I prefer on the top of my head). I had little hope that Avatar would reach that high.

Now, I still didn't like Avatar as much as I had hoped. But it was better than I expected. The visuals are absolutely amazing. It's really a beautiful movie. However, the plot is very standard stuff. I still feel that Cameron's masterpiece is Aliens. It's pretty much a perfect movie. Granted, the general plot is fairly simple, but its various elements flow together so well. I didn't expect Avatar to be nearly as good as Aliens, and I was right (according to my own personal tastes, of course). But it was an impressive show nonetheless.

I do have doubts about sequels, though. Does Avatar really needs sequels? What more is there to tell? Having more Earth people come to try to take Pandora again would be so lame. Maybe the Padorans will try to invade Earth for its resources, how's that for a really silly twist? In any case, a sequel wouldn't do anything to continue the plot. It would just be a different, unrelated adventure of the Pandora people. Kind of like the Ewoks movies (yuck!)

Can't wait to see it! Heard nothing but amazing things about it!
