Unfortunately, you won't be able to tell the average age of the members on this website considering like 99.9% don't post at all.

But looks as if the average age of posters (so far) are pretty young.

And the reason people don't post....
Every group has an in-crowd..
If you don't fit the mold, you're roundly ignored.
And this in-crowd is perhaps the coldest on the inter-net.
And age is a big factor..

We're all a varied bunch, what mold is it that we are all supposed to fit, besides our love of tickling?
And I hardly think age is a factor - there are a large number of regular older than us young people...

21, when i first joined as a young 18 year old it seemed like there was hardly anyone my age on the forum, recently though seems like there tons of "young'uns" on here these days, all good though 😀

I don't understand how an internet forum has an in-crowd. I mean, in terms of posting anyway. People post threads for others in-put and opinions, not just certain peoples'.

But I guess everyone has some kind of insecurity, and if you're so worried about what others think of you, maybe it's better you don't post very often.

I think i get what he means, Although there is a large number of people who post there is you could say, big hitters among the community like yourself, venray, drew, jeff, crystal etc who are fairly consistent posters and have a fairly high standing in the forum, and there is a closeness among you obviously due to things like nest and doing other community things like the radio shows. There will always be popular members in any community and alot of people will want to be apart of that.

It doesnt bother me though i post my two pence every now and then and give input on threads here and there. Thankfully i'm a fairly popular person irl, so having lots of friends on the forums isnt the be all and end all for me

I just don't think I should feel, or be made to feel, guilty because I choose be heavily involved in the community, have made friends, etc. If other people are intimidated or feel discouraged from posting because of that, that has nothing to do with me.

But we're getting off topic here.

I agree with you 100% its nothing to do with you, You or anyone else on the forum doesnt go out there way to make anyone feel unwelcome on the forum. I've never saw or felt that at anytime ive been on the forums.
I'll be honest i was alittle intimidated when i joined because there were people who had been on this forum years before i joined discussing experieances and the like, and me posting my views and opinions at only 18 was kind of scary but with time i got used to it

Point is though some people expect to be able to have best buds on the forums like other members and the fact is it doesnt just happen over night, you gotta get involved and get to know people not just make the odd reply to a post every now and then.

On topic.

I've noticed although alot of votes its only really the young ones who've really aired there opinions on the subject

To make some sort of attempt at staying on topic, I'm 27.

I think the idea that there is some sort of in-crowd on this forum is completely ludicrous. Members choose to get out of TMF whatever they choose to put into it.

I don't think the term "standing" is a particularly good one here. We're all equal as human beings and as tickephiles. What separates the active members from the lurkers and infrequent posters is the very fact that they have made the choice to be active and thus to become known to a good many people on here.

NEST, the TMF Radio chat, these are all things that are open to everyone to participate in. I made the conscious choice to go to my first NEST and since have made the conscious choice to become a far more active member of this community. The so called "popular" members of the community have been nothing but inviting and welcoming of me and I certainly do not have the overall high posts or longtime activity on this forum that they do. Active members will welcome you if you they start to get to know you.

There is no mold in which to fit. The active members here are as diverse as they come. And age is absolutely not a factor. They will welcome you if you are 18 or 81. Again, its pretty simple. In terms of making friends, you will get out of this community whatever you put in.

Getting back to the poll at hand, it is at least interesting that by far the two most predominant groups to respond are in the youngest and oldest age brackets.

My age is just as it says in my bio

Ah..but we post a lot because we have big mouths and are not afeared of interaction with all members young old newbie or not...

Sure some of us are closer because we have met, BUT we became close long before that happened,,,That is why we WANTED to meet...that is why we do the radio shows...to get to know MORE members..

As for wanting to be "popular"...it is a lot easier to be popular here than it was in school...

There are no judgements based on looks, sex, voice, what clothes you wear or any of the things that may get in the way offline before someone gets to know the real you..

All you have to do here is post a thread or add to someone else's on a regular basis..doesnt have to be every day...let people get to know your likes, dislikes, and opinions and you will make many friends here,,,, Heck goof around in the silly threads and you learn a LOT about people...

And remember that we all started out here the same way and most of us remember how hard that can be....dont be afraid to drop a pm or post a question..you may be surprised just how open and friendly people can be around here...

So get out there and have fun!...

… and because they’re ashamed that they don’t have a feather under their name. But just try to get one from those who have so many and see what happens to you!

Does this twit look 51? Go ahead and lie...
Last year somebody suggested that I am 50 (or was), looked 40, and acted 20 (or 10, in reality--:blaugh: )

I'd like to stress again that I'm not taking a pop at any of the people i mentioned in my post, I was merely looking at the argument from the other side of the fence, I'm not jealous of anyone, If i thought it was such a big deal to me personally I'd have made a thread on it by now damning you all to hell :firedevil

First of all, there are more people around my age here than I thought. Kinda nice though, knowing that. 😀

Secondly, while I don't totally agree with all of the CaveIn stuff, I can see where he's coming from. And there just isn't much to be done about it. People who have talked AND met will naturally be closer to those than they would to others, so they'll talk to them more often. That's just how it is. It sucks for those of us who weren't able to go, but again, it's really only natural. All we can do is just keep meeting new people and trying to stay close to our old friends, even if they don't feel as close to us anymore.

Or go to NEST next year. :wowzer:
