The season is coming to a close...and what a season it has been. Watching the Sox and Yanks play is like watching playoff ball every time with neither team ever giving up. The game always comes down to the last out no matter what the score as both teams have proven that they aren't out of it until the very end.

Thus I thought this would be fitting for my 10,000 th post here on the forum. The regular season still isnt over until the last game is played. The Sox and Yanks shall have another chance at each other in the playoffs.........

Congratulations to the Red Sox for clinching a post-season berth last night. (It remains to be seen who will be the AL East Champ and who the AL Wildcard team between them and the Yankees.)

And congratulations to you on your 10,000th post!
 
I just hope the Dodgers can hang on!!! 😡 Damn giants!
 
Ray, if you look at the picture, George is wearing the cap that David Wells won in an auction back in 1997 for some large amount that evades me now...I remember the day after he got it, he wore it on the mound at the start of the game, and the umpire made him remove it... :wow:

Ray for once when it comes to baseball I will agree with the fact that it is never a dull moment when it comes to Yankee\Sox games, this season has been exciting. The Yanks will get the East although they made it closer then I would have liked. And I think we will see a Yankee\Sox matchup in the playoffs...again always exciting!
 
If Pedro can find another pitch to baffle the Yanks, the Sox will have their best shot. As it stands now, Pedro DOESN"T scare the Yankees. With Pedro and Shilling in a 7 game series, it should be interesting, not to mention Wakefield. the Yanks need to find an answer to David Ortiz.

You silly lady...as I type the sox have one their last 4 games now cutting the Yanks to a 2.5 game lead with 5 to go. The Yanks will pla a double header against Minnesota tomorrow, and if they arent careful the sox may just have a chance to squeez by them. It ain't over til it's over, love...thatt's the way baseball is especially where the sox and yanks are concerned. Methinks there is a bit of excitement left to the end of this season.

Knox, I did not know that about the Babe's hat. Thanks for sharing. I always like to find out new things about the game's past eventsm especially where the great ones are concerned.

I remember that game. If memory serves me right, Wells was all over the place that night. One of the few games, he issues more than four walks. Must be the curse

Too bad we can't meet half way and tip a few beers with Drew as well. With all due respect, I'll be rooting for the Yanks, but I am a Mets fan at heart (heavy sigh). If you are interested, PM me.
 
Agreed, Ray. I'm a Braves fan, as I may have posted, and my team has already clinched. October is coming. It can be an agonizing and exhilarating time. I hope my team does well this year. As for the Yankees and Sox, the playoff series they had in the ALCS was a classic one for the ages. If you are a Sox fan, I'm sorry for the heartbreak. Being a Braves fan, the Yankees have given me plenty of frustration in the World Series. It may be that we see another playoff classic from the Yankees and Sox come this October, with, I know, a hoped for different outcome by Sox fans. Good Luck.

Magic number Schmagic number. That did nothing for them last year and it will do zilch for them this year to. Just a matter of will they loose to a team with a lower payroll than the Marlins had last year?

Anything short of the World Series Championship and the Bronx Bummers will be once again a joke along with that big ass payroll and George the jackoff Steinbrenner.

Boston has and always will choke under pressure and blame that bullshit curse. Pedro is another one who is a gagger. Choking on an invisible chicken bone. The Sox choked against the Mets in 86 and will continue to choke. A world series championship will NEVER go to Boston.

I hate the Yankees and would LOVE nothing more than to see then loose to the Red Sox anytime let alone in a Playoff series but they are their own worst ememies.
