Baseball Season........

Sox almost blew it early on but hung in and won it at the end.

Yanks played good ball tonight and we will rest up (as I predicted) and await them for the final series. 2 more games I think.

This is all so much fun! I love this time of the year...
I was sitting in the den, during the tenth inning, while Mrs Knox is standing in the doorway, eating her dinner out of a Tupperware TV tray, and I say to her, "the Red Sox! Once again, grasping defeat out of the jaws of victory!" She laughed, she like that one. Two seconds later, David Ortiz hits one over the left field wall, and Fenway explodes, and I said, "wait! This isn't supposed to happen! This only happens TO them!"
With anyone else (the exception being the useless and retarded Chicago Cubs), you'd say, maybe this is the beginning of something wonderful, but it is Boston, and you have to live events in Real Time. Hope springs eternal, though...

keep the faith (this year's Redsox catch phrase)

venraya had to leave whe the Angels hit the grand slam to tie it....

she almost left again when Ortiz hit the gomerun to win...

Not that I am VOCAL or anything....

OK Yankees...BRING IT ON!!!!!!

Ray 😀

Goooooood evening ladies and gentlemen:

Introducing, the biggest and baddest rivalry in the history of baseball

In this corner, weighing 500 of pomp, wearing white trunks with blue pinstrips, the defending AL champion New York Yankees.

And, in this corner, weighing 500 pounds including the chip on his shoulder of 400 pounds. Wearing red trunks with blue sox inscribed. Thye worthy AL challenger, Boston Red Sox

OK men watch the beanballs and flying bats and lets have a good clean fight, no throwing 72 year old men to the ground. Go to each corner and come out fighting.

Bring it on.....

I'd love a Red Sox/Cards or a Yankees/Cards series. Drag your old black and white Zenith out of the closet for that one!

There are people who yak on and on about the "Law Of Averages", and how, sooner or later, the Yanks and Sox have to succumb to same. This is bullshit. Here's the Law Of Averages: I can name another Boston team, one with a very long and memorable heritage, who played a team with an even greater heritage in the post season every year, year after year, and lost. People have grown old and gray, and had to watch the Bruins drop yet another post season series to Club de Hockey Canadien, over and over and over again. So, enough of the Law Of Averages. The Red Sox have to go out and kick their ass. No detours.

With Curt Schilling available to pitch for possible three games, this should be veeeeerrrrrrrryyyyyy interesting!!! Yanks need a clue for Ortiz. He is the X factor.

I figure given the record of split series between them, the Yanks have the sight edge with the home advantage......

Sox will take # 2 and #4

Yanks will take # 1 and 3

It will end up tied 3 all and decided at the staium in game 7 where we will see if the curse has been lifted once and for all.

Ray

Sox Yanks starts tomorrow. It should be a classic. As for me, NLDS Game 5 between my Braves and Houston starts in about 20 minutes. The Braves have lost deciding Game 5's in this round on their home field two years in a row, so hopefully tonight they'll break the curse. I know that even if we win we get St Louis, and we may very well not win that series. I just want us to win tonight, so that we dont go down in first round for the 3rd year in a row at home! GO BRAVES!

Hey, Milagros! Have you noticed that steamrollers can indeed come dressed in bright red plumage?

I am officially on the bandwagon of the heretofore Gashouse Gang, the St. Louis Swifties, the El Birdos, the White Rat Mob, or whatever they've been called in the past, the St. Louis Cardinals. Good place to be, no matter what happens.

Burning question... will Mariano be available for Game 1? If not, I see the tide turning

Well..at least it looks like neither team will have to worry about facing the Braves 12-3 Houston in game 5 in the top of the 8'th....

Though that might mean one of our teams will have to face Clemens...

What a trip!

Ray

It'll be the Astros. Such a shame that only Clemens will face the A.L. winners. I was hoping Pettit would be healthy. It would be so sweet to see them beat their former teammates. Then again...it would be just as nice to see him beat the Sox too!

Ray, I'm obviously disappointed that my Braves lost, but I have to look at the bigger picture. 96 wins and another division title in a year when they werent even expected to make the playoffs. The Astros are just a solid and very hot team. As for my Braves, I congratulate them on another wonderful regular season, and wish all the remaining teams well in the playoffs. I think both LCS series will be mighty interesting.

I see that Shilling got KOed after 3. I'm kinda surprised. Schilling usually has their number. Moose is pitching like the big game pitcher they thought they were getting. Best postsesaon game he has pitched in his career so far. Oh, BTW, Mariano is suited up, so ignore my last post.

Curt can now come back to pitch game four when we go down 2-1 after the Yanks win #1 and 3 as I have said....😀 😉 😛

Good point. I figured there was a method to his madness. I see that Wakefield is scheduled to go in game 4. Remembering how effective he was last year in the ALCS, Francona may want to rethink that

It's true that the Cardinals won the NLDS with the Dodgers, 3 games to 1. It's also true that the Dodgers had a good year, becoming NL West Champions for the first time since 1995. 😀

Moreover, the hated jints did not make it to post season. 😛 😛

Wakefield will pitch tonight at some point and be able to take game five as a starter. Then Curt (if the ankle is ok can take game 7 if needed..

Ray

Well as we speak, I look at the TV and there he is. Can't knock the strategy. That's why they went out to get Curt. He is a Yankee killer. I thought he was going to be pushed 3 games in this series.

Nothing about tonight's game has surprised me so far except for the perfect game the Yanks have going...I expected about 2-3 runs from the sox....😉
