As a fan for years (but was banned from watching for most of the 80'), I have been thinking of the best finishing moves in wrestling, singles and tag team.
Here are some of mine.

Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka's top rope splash.

Randy 'Macho Man' Savage's flying elbow drop.

DDP's Diamond Cutter (came from nowhere, no kick in the gut, no huge buildup)

Bret 'Hitman' Hart's Sharpshooter.

As for tag teams - the best is the Hart Attack, by the Hart Foundation.

My favorite finisher has always been the Razor's/Outsider's Edge, by Razor Ramon/Scott Hall. Somewhere in my house there's a picture of me executing that particular move on my best friend...

Kurt Angle's Ankle Lock, people don't realize how much it truly hurts until you're put in it. When I play wrestle with the wife, I put her in it, but add a tickle to it, making it doubly tough😛

Much like the Figure Four Leg Lock! People see it on TV and figure "awww, that doesn't hurt. If it did, they wouldn't use it". BULLSHIT! Lazzy has put that sucker on me, and let me tell you IT HURTS!!! Thankfully he only did it to me once just to demonstrate, but unfortunately he has other wrestling leg locks he puts me in that are completely painless, but render me completely helpless and unable to move. THEN the tickling comes, and I'm left tapping out to an invisble ref who's not gonna be saving my ass anytime soon.

that's exactly what the wife does too, tap out to nobody in particular, and I am laughing harder than she is. i putthe figure four on her too, but not all the way, so it doesn't hurt as bad, but then here foot is sticking out in front of me, so I tickle and both moves at the same time have her tapping out in seconds!!

(you'll notice he executes it in three different ways/styles, ensuring the move never gets old) This is the end all move, in most cases, and only a couple have ever kicked out of it (to my knowledge), including the Undetaker himself).


Triple H's Pedigree

It can come out of nowhere and is good for evening the odds. Works well in tandum with combos.


Stone Cold's Stone Cold Stunner

Another move that can come out of nowhere and is also good for evening the odds.

Randy Orton's RKO

Works good in tandum with counter moves, also comes out of nowhere.

Chris Benoit's Crippler Crossface

My favorite submission move. Very effective.

Ric Flair's Figure-4 Leglock

A classic and also very effective. Another great submission move.

The leg drop? Did someone say the LEG DROP! Man I hate that move! LOL! Really touched a nerve here! I always found that to be particularly weak...buth then I was never a Hogan fan. In fact I once sat where the wrestlers came into the the Civic Arena just to flip him off and tell him sucked...lol...no, I did not have any kind of life.

btw, I was always fond of the Cobra Clutch...it's like an upperbody figure four to me. All those limbs tangeld and the other guy just fading out.

Plus the cross-face chicken wing when it is applied to a guy that BEnoit can actually reach around.

My faves...

Crippler Crossface: My fave move by my fave wrestler. Not only does it hurt like hell, it can come out of nowhere against a dazed opponent. Not even HHH can withstand it! 😛
Crossface Chickenwing: An old-school move. Remember when Bob Backlund latched this onto Bret Hart? Actually, this move is useful against ANYONE, even large opponents.
Tombstone Piledriver: The normal piledriver hurts, but this variant looks cooler. Many wrestlers have used it in the past, but it's symbolic to the Undertaker.
Stone Cold Stunner: Up yours, kick, wham, STUNNER! They never saw it coming...
Frog Splash: Eddie Guerrero's is the best. Always looks superb ever since his WCW days.

I believe when Edge first started in the then -WWF, his finishing move was the Downward Spiral - kind of like a reverse-Rock Bottom (face plant).
Now that was a messy move.

Koko B. Ware's "Ghostbuster" - vertical suplex into a modified side pile driver.

Boston Crab - old school submission.

Cradle pile-driver, cradle DDT.

Demolition - not sure what their move was called, but it looked like it could really break one's back.

I remember when foreign objects were rarely used - now it almost seems the norm.

We need more masked/face painted wrestlers.

You mean that dance where he runs his crotch furiously and then "smacks his bitch up"? God, I love that. It partially inspired my patented Groin of Doom!™, I'll have you know. Norman Smiley was funny, but his actual finishing move was a Crossface Chickenwing he called "The Norman Conquest".
