Why do you feel that its mostly black people that create crimes and are in Prisons and Jails all over the untied states more so then any other ethnic group? Would you blame it on something for this happening, and if so what?

Cool yum. i like worms specially the gummy worm kind 😀

i don't care if this post turns into a can of worms. its ok to disagree and fight at times as long as its in a calm manner

That answer is simple, my friend. White people know how to do their crimes without nobody noticing. Blacks and minorities, well, people know when something is up

AFA blacks and other minorities in jail, that answer is simple as well. Do you know how many people involved with Dept of Corrections? that's 1/4th of the people in the US. Society itself has a need for a criminal, so it creates one. And just who do you think the prime candidates for that are? think about it

More than can be chewed in a thread...

This would truly be an amazing opportunity to acquire social education regarding minority populations in America for you. I highly recommend researching the internet if you're really interested in this, Moon.

What you will find is that disproportionate crime attributed to Blacks in America is a byproduct of social, inter-cultural, economic, and many other factors. To ask your question, is to ask about the history of the Black experience in America.

Here are just a few topics that you may want to explore in your quest to answer your question:

* Class systems and the inequity of wealth and opportunity in America for people of color.

* Unbalanced intellectual resource distribution and the Educational system in America.

* Cultural and Race-related isolation and discrimination of people of color in America.

* Science, and the attempt to categorize Black people as physically and mentally unequal to whites in America.

* Social stereotypes and exploitation of people of color in America.

* The impact of extreme racism such as KKK and other White supremacist hate groups upon Blacks in America.

* The history of slavery and its influence on generational growth in people of color in America.

* Intra-cultural racism, discrimination and low self esteem within communities of people of color in America.

* Political pigeon holing, districting, and the geographical segregations of people of color in America.

* The impact of overt and subliminal racism on generations of people of color in America.

* Economic stagnation, and the abuse of the social services programs among people of color in America.

* Judicial inequities: differences in quality of legal representation, judicial racism, racist law enforcement agents, lack of adequate protection in neighborhoods of people of color in America.

* The rise to power of gangs and the new organized crime in America

* The exploitation and romanticism of Black / Black violence by the media, Hollywood and the music entertainment industries in America.

* Economic Divide-and-conquer strategies used against Black people over the past 100 years in America.

* The destruction of the proud Black man in America

* The reconstruction of the Black man in America as everything from a bum to a thug.

* The destruction and demonizing of Black cultures in America over the last 400 years.

* Caste system differences among and between communities of color and white communities.

* Criminal Racial Profiling

Etc.

Hopefully I’ve given you some topics to help educate you. I’ll be happy to discuss any of this in detail with you, if you’re interested.

Shadow, I'm sure BlackmoonDoll is well appraised about the past 300 years of racial relations in the US.
This is 2004, and we're supposed to be 'enlightened'.
So what happened?

NT, you're off-base here, especially the second paragraph.

perhaps the 50 plus years of failed social programs that kept impoverished people in a cycle of dependancy......never seemed to enable folks to satisfy their craving for basic needs and groovy material possessions.......and so, after desperation and realization meet......matters are taken in an entirely unfit direction.

White people have their own crime (white collar crime) and they get to steal millions and hide them in offshore accounts while they do a little time in Club Fed playing tennis and writing memoirs.

Black people get racially profiled, abused by police, then the justice system, only to be further abused by the corrections system. They do hard time for minimal offenses, refused a life after parole, and land back into the system as the result of the lack of support.

This isn't about enlightenment. It's about labelling the same old crap-racism and prejudice. A person has seen enough negative images of us from everywhere from videos to COPS and all inbetween. When Cosby did his show in the eighties, it came under harsh criticism that it wasn't trully representative of black families. I grew up in a neighborhood full of Cosby-ites: doctors, lawyers, educated professional businesspeople. But that doesn't make money for the entertainment industry or keep the media busy, now does it?😡 😡

Approximately 11% of social program participants are black and that's been pretty consistent over the years. Now, just who is making up the other 89%?

Yeah, I can agree about the materialism, but that's a result of low self-esteem and the need to dress the part without taking the next step of becoming the part.

And Given Proportionally Hispanics And American Indians

Provide our jail populations perhaps you all ought to try a BIT of research prior to following the ramblings of someone who did not do his.

Even including the others of color, the highest percentage is still amongst black males with women gaining momentum in the prision system. It was a general question, not needing science or statistical backing. He asked a question, he's been given several answers. Isn't that what this forum is supposed to be about?

It's Biased..

And I understand he wasn't trying to target any theory, however on a per capita basis, which is the only true measure you can use on items like this Hispanics and American Indians provide more prisoners.

If you're gonna give a theory it has to apply to all minorities, not just blacks.

I think you're making an unproven assumption about the poster's knowledge, but I know what you're getting at. The problem is that enlightenment only comes to people who have been assimilated into society to the degree that their social and economic progress is proportionate to the mean. That is not the case with African Americans as a whole. Therefore, if blackmoondoll is NOT already familiar with the past 300 years of African American society, then learning such information would give him yet another perspective.

The amount of hispanics and Native Americans incarcerated in U.S. prisons are NOT proportionate to that of Blacks. The only rambling I've read so far, is this post.

Wrong again.
The only theories that require more than one ethnic minority group lumped into the same presentation would be those which distinguish between whites and "non-whites." As soon as you ask the question about why there is a disproportionate amount of Blacks in jail, than whites, you have specified an ethnic group, and can no longer use "minority" as a category of population.

Next to Native Americans (The Oldest American), African Americans are generationally, the oldest running minority population in the country STILL not yet completely afforded total assimilation into mainstream society.

Statistically, African Americans were incarcerated at a rate 5 times greater than whites over the last 25 years, and 3 times greater than Hispanics over the same time period.

So, not only is there a disparity in the number of African Americans incarcerated as compared to Hispanics, but creating a theory as to the reasons why this disparity exists, necessitates their ethnicity be differentiated.

So, its important to understand all underlying factors that contribute to the present condition in which Blacks find themselves in America as it pertains to the criminal justice system. Some is generational, some self-inflicted, and some social, etc.
