Congrats to Beantown! Boston is the only city to have won the championship in all 4 major sports in the last 10 years. Quite a feat. Good job! Also, very classy of Vancouver to be gracious in defeat, and their fans too.

This is my 2nd Stanley Cup championship for the Bruins in my lifetime and the 1st I actually witnessed CONGRATULATIONS to the Boston Bruins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome season for the Bruins! I remember the '70 win but especially the '72 victory over the Rangers. Who knew then it would be another 39 years...
Congrats to the Canucks as well. Great season.

Its a shame there had to be some assholes who started looting and rioting after the game, I know it does not reflect the majority of Vancouver fans but some people need to grow up, its just a game. :sowrong:

This was a good series! I was pulling for Vancouver, as I'd like to see the Cup back in Canada and end this longest-ever drought...but I found it hard to root against Boston. Winning three Game 7's in the playoffs is no small matter.

It looked even and very winnable by the Canucks until Games 6 and 7. The Bruins just took over. Especially in the final game, they were simply everywhere. I think the real death knell was the shorthanded goal the Bruins scored on Vancouver's power play. Just seemed to suck the energy right out of the Canucks.

I have friends in Vancouver, and it's a beautiful city...but I was embarrassed for them during the rioting. Those people do not represent Vancouver.

Congrats to the Boston Bruins for their first Cup since '72!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

That is all

Here's a joke I heard:
A man walks into a bar with his dog. The dog goes wild and tears up the bar. A shocked bartender asks the dog owner: what's wrong with your dog?
The dog owner replies: the dog's Canadian. Every time a Canadian NHL team loses, it goes wild like that.
The bartender asks: and what does it do when a Canadian NHL team wins?
The dog owner says: I don't know. I've only had it for 9 years now.

Why would you think that is funny?
That's really rude.

I agree, Bruins earned it with there never say die attitude. Based on Vancouver reaction to losing, we may have to rename it Detroit II.

Yeah, those idiots were going to riot and loot even if the Canucks had won.

Lighten up, after the way BC has embarrassed the entire country (AGAIN) it's earned.

There are four million people in B.C, two million in Vancouver...and there were two hundred rioters. Ten THOUSAND people showed up the very next day, at 7am no less, to clean up.

The numbers speak for themselves, but that's not what the the media puts it's focus on. Anyone who knows more about the situation than what little the news media has told people, know full well the majority of people in Vancouver (see: everyone except the 200 idiots) are disgusted by what happened.

This isn't the first riot. No one really cares that much except the people who live in that city. Nobody's going to characterize the entire city by the actions of a few.

Vancouver has been an embarrassment since the 72 Summit Series. While the other Canadian cities did boo Team Canada for not playing well after the game, only Vancouver disgraced itself by booing them as they scatted onto the ice. When it was reveled that the Red Army team did nothing but play hockey all year round I am sure many realized booing them was, in hindsight, an error in judgement (and group of NHL players learned not to underestimate any foreign team ever again).

So that's were I stand as far as Vancouver is concerned. It's a beautiful city, I am sure most of the people are great, but there are somethings ya just don't do, and booing your own country before the game is one of them, especially when the other team was the USSR

They rioted back in '94, but it looks like they outdid that happy day.

These people are professional anarchists. They have no positive pursuits to channel all of their energy, so the energy's negative, and what you have is this. I knew people like this in high school, and if they all have one thing in common, they all want the entire world to hurt in the way that they do. What causes this? We could be tempted to turn this thread into something else entirely, but I'm just going to say that many of us here, through experience, understand the causes implicitly.

I used to be a much bigger hockey fan than I am now. I root for original six teams, because I'm a shameless traditionalist, I suppose. I'm happy Boston won, I was very, very happy Chicago won last year. Of course, my favorite team at any given moment is the one that beats Philadelphia...I remember the way Detroit humiliated and made them look like total saps back in 1997, and I wore bright red all summer. With the Flyers, it's personal, and it has been personal since longer than many of you have been alive.

The City of Vancouver- the municipal government- should be held culpable for all of this. They should've taken steps to ensure that 1994 would never happen again, but they didn't. Vancouver residents should remember this the next time they go to the voting booth.

Congratulations to the Bruins and their fans. We went through similar drought here in Detroit so I know what it feels like to feel the relief!

Have fun this summer 'cause we're taking the Cup back next year 🙂.

Great series.....
