every time i go too watch a clip on realplayer its says that realplayer requires additional components to play. has anyone got any suggestions please it would be greatfully appreciated

RealPlayer is crappy and buggy. If your version is older than 10, I recommend uninstalling it before upgrading to the latest version, in order to minimise problems (the current version is 10.5).

If you really hate RealPlayer, you could also try the well-regarded Real Alternative, free at http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm
