Can You Swim? Do You Like Swimming?

Just curious. I love the water but I swim badly, my form is awful and my swim instructor just despaired of me My husband swims beautifully but HATES it, he says it's for suckers because "by the time you dry off you're hot again so what was the point?" 🙄 Then there's Adam, he love love OMG LOVES the water and loves to waterski 🙂frankie: Goes To the Beach would be a great movie )

Living in Southern California, it's pretty much a given that you're taught at a pretty young age because most people have pools, and swimming parties are big when you're growing up. I was actually sort of shocked when I first realized there were people in the country who just never learned how to swim.

I'm a New Yorker born and raised, many MANY of us don't learn to swim as children; it just doesn't happen, like many of us don't drive until our 20's and '30's

Yes i can swim i was taught at a very young age at my familys cottage on Sebago Lake in Maine and today at 38 i'm still like a fish as soon as i hit the water I'm gone

I live in a country of which more than half is below sea level so floods can get really nasty here; when I grew up all children were taught how to swim in school.

And I love diving, so when I'm in the pool I spend most of the time crawling across the bottom. (nice and quiet)

I can swim as far as keeping myself alive in water. I can't do any specific strokes, or swim with any kind of discipline. I just exist in the water and don't drown 😛 That having been said, I love swimming <3

I was taking lessons as a kid until one of my abusers held me under and threatened to drown me if I told of what he'd done. That made me afraid of the water. I've since reclaimed my love of the water, but still haven't learned to swim. So, I stay within areas where I can reach the bottom.

I was a lifeguard and a swim instructor for 4 years so I know all the strokes and everything. I'm not fast, but I have a lot of endurance, I usually do about 50 laps at a time when I'm into it.

Girl, don't even TALK to me about burning I still have tan lines from where I got uber sun-burned LAST summer...that's right...a year ago. It was fierce. I think I already have 10 different kinds of skin cancer.

I threw myself into a lake when I was a kid and almost drownded myself I'm tardtastic.

RHINOS LIKE FLOATS!

I'm an excellent swimmer. Only thing I never learned was the butterfly stroke. It can be a bit of a time getting me to go swimming, but once I'm in, it's all good. 😀
