Hello folks,

As of this morning we have changed the tagging function so only the person who creates the thread can add tags to it. No one else can.

We feel this is a nice solid middle ground to the problem that recently happened, and continued even after we asked for some responsibility in tag use. Tags will continue, but abuse of them should now be eliminated.

Fair's fair, I suppose.

At least the tagging system will become more accurate with time now.
 
I think that makes a lot of sense 🙂 I never even paid attention to tags until it was brought up in a thread last week and I know there was a warning about the abuse of tags needing to be stopped or that the priviledge of them would be taken away. Well.....apparently this has happened so what can ya do?

Ya, that's my fault, I misunderstood one of the switches on the control panel, it disabled the limit to non-OP tags, not the tags themselves. I think we're just going to turn the whole thing off, nobody uses it for its intended purpose anyway.
 
Probably for the best. I don't think they serve any real purpose. If someone's looking for a particular topic then a keyword search functions just as well.

LOL j/k XD They were a lot of fun, but yeah I guess they were getting a little out of hand...and arguably a bit offensive at times. =P Good call, Myriads.
 
What does tagging even remotely accomplish that a thread title does not?

It became a feature which was abused. It served no real purpose in the first place and was used in a childish manner.

Bravo, though you'd probably be better set just removing it entirely.

We should at least be allowed to have them in SSF for sheer entertainment purposes. >.>
 
I had no idea about this feature, or that it was a problem. Now that I do know, I'm outraged!
