What about the Yahoo Room? Does that cost money as well? Also if we can't afford much can we send it another way besides credit card?
I think regarding contributing to the cost of the chatroom. It should be a seperate thing away from this forum, so only people that pay can use it. Or else we will get some members contributing and others who don't still using it, which hardly seems fare to me. What do other members think?

twelve hours into our fund drive we have collected $300. Thats halfway to our goal 🙂 and it means that the room is solid until March.
To all who have heled to this point A big thank you.
I am very touched that the level of support that I've seen in the last 12 hours. It's impressive.
Now our goal is to knock off the last $300 so we don;t have to do this again until next year 🙂 I think we'll be done quite quickly.
To answer the above poster, we want to keep all the TMF's services open to all members. We know that some folks simply cannot afford to pay to chat or search or post. and we don't want to make the TMF a two tiered system, thats not in the spirit of inclusion that we want here.
This drive is happening because we want to keep the nice secure chatroom that many users enjoy, and not have to step back to one of the older and to be frank, annoying ones we used before. No one is expected to contribute, or will be penalized if they do not. It's 100% up to each user to give or not. Those that do are helping us keep the forum a nicer place for all, and we thank them!

Im so glad that we are on our way there....thankyou everyone who has contributed so far and to those who will be soon. The room has its down points sometimes but when it gets going its all worth it..
well put Myriads, it really doesnt matter if you cant afford to help out as the way things are going it isnt going to take much more to reach the target.

I have just contributed. Although I rarely use the chatroom, I very often use the TMF, and the chatroom is obviously a part of the community. 😀
And i thought it wouldnt happen.....thanks everyone , i really love the chatroom and i am very pleased that it s going to be up for longer. and thankyou milagros.....i will come and post in "your" forum soon 😉

This is wonderful news. As I think I told you Myriads, I charged $20 last night to my credit card. I wish it could have been more, but Iam a bit tight at this point. You mentioned that we are okay until at least March or longer. Should you still be short by March, and need a bit more, I can probably contribute a bit more. Let me know as time goes on, Myriads, and I'll do what I can. I want to save this chat, as it would be a pity for us to have to go back to the old awful room.
Thank you to all who contributed. Duckie, and Milagros, which was very generous of you considering you hardly use the chat. It is good to see the forum members coming to bat for each other. Hopefully in the end we can raise what is needed to save this great chat that we love.

As a follow up to this subject, I think everyone might be interested in taking a look at my "Why it is imperative we keep this secure room" post. After reading that story, and for those of us like me who went through it, as well as the mods and others who used to endure the non stop abuse of the old room, hopefully that will serve as motivation for us to raise any additional money we need to save this chat until next year.
