Just bought a computer with Windows 8; apparently Java does not work except in the desktop mode. I tried deleting and reinstalling Java in desktop mode, but still cannot access the chat room. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
 
The chat room is very picky about the new java updates. The best I can offer is to try a number of different browsers. One may work when other so not.

In terms of browsers I use Opera 10 and the chat works fine. If I remember right I think Firefox has a lot of problems running java.
 
The browser you use will matter very much. I recommend you not use IE.
 
The chat worked fine with both of my browsers, then suddenly one day it
said it was out of date, and when I update, it continues to give me the same
error. I cannot muster up enough fucks to give that would make me go
and download more browsers, so if it works again someday, great.
