Clip Disappointment

I'm not sure how much discussion this will gather as it's more of a query, but have you ever been really hyped up to see a clip and when you finally do it's actually a massive let down? I won't name the company as it's not fair, plus their work is always good and the let down was more that my expectations were set so high.

It's still a pisser, though, isn't it? Anyone else had this?

Yeah, pretty much. It happens often. It's combination of things that add up to the ultimate let down. Could be the preview clip was edited masterfully or the best parts were shown (Kind of like a lot of movies these days). Could be the write up the producers write about the clip combined with your imagination and expectations. Could be the still pictures which give you one idea yet the clip when you finally view it portrays another idea.

There's a silver lining though, the reciprocal of this situation, buying a clip and actually being blown away. Of course the percentage of that happening is considerably lower than it's opposite.

Many times 🙂 Aside from plain false advertising, my pet hate (and something that is not often detectable from a preview clip) is when a clip is poorly spliced together and full of edits...

An occasional cut I don't mind; sometimes there are legit reasons to place cuts in a clip - trimming excess footage, scene changes etc. I'm talking about "cover up" editing to hide that the model is getting sneaky breaks every 30 seconds, or poorly tied bondage undid itself, or the phone rang and they couldn't be bothered to start the scene again, or the guy holding the camera started talking/prompting the 'lee and broke the flow of what was going on - the kind of things that are completely avoidable if you care. Potentially great clips can be completely cocked up with poor filming / lazy editing, but you'd never know from the screencaps and preview. I know there's not some great tickle clip conspiracy, but it's hard to feel any other way than disappointed and that someone is selling you shoddy goods when the flow of the clip keeps breaking 😛

I'd guess it's about 50/50, but many producers seem pretty averse, or just plain hostile towards even the most contructive criticism (to be honest, many seem more interested in topic bumping by moving straight on to the next "great clip!" comment rather than actually conversing) which is why I tend to just not buy from them again, or run a 3-strike rule if I'm not happy with the quality of the clip.

Anyway, thankfully there's always a good selection of producers that take the effort to produce quality clips ...so it's not the end of the world 🙂

Thanks all - there was no suspect editing or breaks in the action, I just think it was my level of expectation. In this instance, her laughter was mostly gurgles and noises that sounded like she was in pain...

Most of the clips I've got have been amazing, and more than I expected. As Comfort Eagle said, that's the gamble you take. Glad to know it's not just me, though. Thanks for the input.

There are some clips (old school) where the pics look great, but the footage not so much. But, with just about every company giving you a preview clip now, I don't see how it would happen nowadays.

That is why you should always check the preview and make your own judgement before you buy a clip. But of course you can never be 100 % sure before you watch the full clip.

That's cool and all but :45 to 1:30 preview can't predict 6+ minutes of clip. It's still tough.

Personally, I'm not a fan of screamers. If someone is being tickled and all I hear is screams. I failed the mission.
