Concern for TMF members in path of hurricane Rita

I wish for any and all members of TMF to please be safe and be out of harm from Hurricane Rita . Please evacuate if you have been told if your in the path or close to the path as a home can be rebuilt as well as material possessions can be replaced but no matter what demographic a person is,please do what is needed to take care of yourself .
I only wish I could be living somewhere in my own place within driving distance to help any of you that may be needing a place to stay .If you don;t know from just what I said what I am trying to say,is that I would openly be willing to do that if I wasn;t living with my parents presently temporarily..sigh..
My thoughts,prayers are still with those that are trying to start new lives survivors of Hurricane Katrina ..I am too as well thinking of,keeping those that lost their lives in New Orleans,Lousiana,Mississippi and Alabama hoping and praying that they are at peace ...

Katrina refugees under the gun again

The thing I feel really bad about is that a decent number of people from New Orleans ended up in the Beaumont Texas area on the coast near the La. border and now it looks like that area may get the very worst of Rita. That totally sucks. I don't know if I could take that happening to me twice within a month.

The one-two punch to the region is going to have people wondering why this is happening to them. I feel so bad for those down there! I'm hoping that all from the region are too busy getting to safety to see this thread....or have already reached safe locations.

(For those who are still interested in joining the Adopt-A-Shelter efforts, we'll be adding any new shelters and seeking to help them out as well.)

Another problem with Rita is that it's going to be real bad inland for rain, parts of the northeast Texas area (probably well east of Dallas may get 1 to 2 feet of rain as it looks like it's gonna stall out up there Sunday into Tuesday. Probably bad flooding up there which in some ways is worse then a quick shot of strong winds.

Things are so bad there, my hospital has had 9 hurricane victims admitted (I'm all the way in California!) We are the area's only level one trauma unit so I guess I can see why but holy cow~Quite a haul to be making!

Those who can't afford private insurance are being granted IMMEDIATE Medi-Cal benefits (unless you live in Cali, your state calls it Medi-Caid.) They don't even have to provide ID (a rule they NEVER break!) because they realize some people lost theirs~pretty cool I think!

We're also hosting 4 med students so they can keep studying (it's a teaching hospital) while their home bases have been destroyed...

My prayers are with all and I'm with Laurie~for God's sake, grab a few valuables, your pets and get the hell out of there~a HOUSE can be replaced!

I live in Dallas, and the worst problem right now is the damn traffic, hehe.

I am happy that many people are taking refuge here, but it looks like we are gonna get some heavy rain.

I pray for the victims of Hurricane Rita. May they find peace in this time of sorrow. Know that there are people in the world who care and will be ready and willing to help. Although tomorrow is not promised today, live life one day at a time. You are in everyone's prayers. God does everything for a reason. My nephew says that god is getting rid of the evil people and my niece is saying that it's a sign from the days of Noah. However we see this force of nature, be grateful that you are still here today and pray for the ones who aren't.
