Crystal Light's Cinematic Education

You said what happened to reading, well, isn't that another list to be put up?

Movies should treated like wine or a woman, savored and cherished. Modern Hollywood does not treat them like that.

True.

Well, I have yet to meet one who understands that my Mistress, history, is always going to be there. I also have yet to find one that doesn't want to change me. Clean house and all that, I can understand. My classic movies, writing, college football and my love of history are unchangable.

Primer

I highly recommend a movie called Primer. Do yourself a favor and don't spoil any of the movie by checking out imdb or reading any reviews. Go in with a clean slate and if you like a good mind fuck you should enjoy this one. It may require a second viewing, but I like things that make me think.

Shawshanke Redemption...I can't believe this movie wasn't brought up yet!

Amazing character actors in leading roles!

You also seem to like horrors so...

SAW(Any)
Halloween
Jason

And if you like American History X, you would like Fight Club

Now that sounds like a dopeass movie..Definetly addin' that one to the list..I enjoy a good mindfuck.

Good point, hon. Actually, I have seen that movie and I agree; It was amazing.

Thanks, man. :redheart:

HOW old are you again Crysal??? 😛 Looks like there needs to be a serious movie night sometime in the near future "A Clockwork Orange" style. Wait... have you seen A Clockwork Orange?

Wow.. to many to mention, but here's a few!

The Big Lebowski (actually if you pick up anything from the Coen Brothers you're in for a treat)

The Original Star Wars Triology (Not that special edition bs)

Citizen Kane (Considered by many as the greatest film of all time)

Anything by Kubrick

Anything with Jack Nicholson in it (Greatest film actor ever!!!)

The Unforgiven (Eastwood nailed this one)

American Beauty

The Shawshank Redemption (This may be my favorite single film)

The Godfather I and II (Please skip III, it aint worth it...)

Pump Up The Volume (A bit dated, but very underrated)

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (If you have time, watch the extended versions)

and many, many more...

20, Chief. 😀

And, yes. I have.

I have also seen The Crow.

Brandon Lee... :cry1:

If you get the chance, check out Tod Browning's "Freaks," which was released in 1932. The ending is perhaps one of the most disturbing scenes ever filmed in motion picture history. Here's one of the many memorable scenes from that flick:

lol... that's a great selling point. I might have to never watch that, ever. 😛

By no means a movie you should have heard of, but Rocket Science is the actual greatest movie of all time. How could a movie about an awkward stutterer joining the debate team, directed by Jeffrey Blitz of spellbound fame not be good? It also features the greatest line in movie history but I won't give it away.

In that case, the ending is actually quite charming and will put a smile on the grumpiest of faces.

Awesome choice, Frankie!

"Freaks" is an absolute classic. On the dvd though, they kinda change things so it doesn't end with the "disturbing scene". Which kinda sucks because it was the perfect shocking ending.

"The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the 8th Dimension"

Really? That's kind of like remastering the "Wizard Of Oz" so that the first part of the movie is in color. Sacrilege!

Dr Strangelove (Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb)
A Clockwork Orange
The Shining
Misery
About a Boy
Noi Albinoi
Cirque de Deus

This is a must see, too:

And here's a scene from that movie for all the foot lovers out there:
