Liek, 'kay:

Monty Python And The Holy Grail (a.k.a "The Winner")

Monty Python's Life Of Brian (notice the apostrophe denoting ASSOCIATION AND/ OR OWNERSHIP!!!!1)

Monty Python's Meaning Of Life (Not as good as the others but worth a look for Mr Creosote alone)

And Now For Something Completely Different... (Please fondle my buttocks)

Human Traffic (It's funny because it's true 😀 )

Chopper ("Why would I call an ambulance for someone that I've just fucking shot? That would defeat the purpose of having shot him!" Best Australian film evaire)

Pan's Labyrinth (Awesome film. Just f'kin' awesome. Seriously, might well be my favourite film of all time.)

A Life Less Ordinary (See Pan's Labyrinth, sweet and funny and awesome)

The one with Will Ferrell in it that was about ice skating, Blades of Something ("Chad Michael Michaels IS FIGURE SKATING!")

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas - Please note if you have not seen this film you must either dispose of yourself in a big toilet and flush the big toilet or immediately go and see this film because it wins. So hard.

Pirates Of The Carribean 1 (the rest are poo-poo)

Alpha Dog (shut up it was good, Jake Mazursky wins the internet)

Fight Club (bit pretentious but good nonetheless)

Dead Presidents (Best facepaint evaire)

Training Day (Denzel Washington is god.)

The Departed (Is anyone else bothered by how difficult it is to dislike Mark Wahlberg? Because I am. Even after New Kids On The Block. It's a rip-off of Infernal Affairs but it's still a great film.)

Trainspotting ("It's shite being Scottish!")

Anything, and I do mean anything, with Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee in it. Chop socky owns your face.

Lock, Stock And Barrell (Don't bother with Snatch, it's a bag of shite)

Gladiator ("I am Maximus Decius Meridius...". Gives me goosebumps every time 😀 )

Romper Stomper ("We came to wreck everything, and ruin your life. God, sent us.")

Kenneth Brannagh's Hamlet (Go go thespian-head!)

300 (How can anyone not love this film?)

V For Vendetta (Guy Fawkes has never been so cool)

Lord Of The Rings, all 3 of them.

The Man With Two Brains (Steve Martin at his near-finest...)

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (.. and at his absolute finest. Ruprecht!)

Police Squad, any of them

Loose Cannons (I think that's what it was called, it had Dan Akroyd as a kind of idiot savante detective)

Devil's Advocate ("I'm a faaaaaan of man!!!" Al Pacino rules all)

Desperado, Once Upon A Time In Mexico, anything in that general milleu

You should get a membership at Blockbuster or better yet Hollywood Video and get one of those unlimited rentals for $20 a month or something like that. Go through the employee picks first. When they see you picking their favorites they will recommend others to you or tell you when you pick a bad movie. I used to have a membership at Hollywood like that until I started borrowing Buffy the Vampire Slayer from one of my friends. When I finish season seven I am going to start my membership again and rent like crazy.

And these are just for starters!

There is a strange 70s exploitation film with a relatively obvious political subtext (which I think I was too young to pick up on when I first saw it) called Massacre at Central High; it's the film upon which Heathers is based. I was kind of miffed when Heathers came out that they had stolen the concept (without acknowledgment?); with the absolute obsession with remaking films in Hollywood today, borrowing ideas, as was done here, now seems quaint. Anywho, I did like Heathers, too.

Insomnia (Pacino....and Robin Williams)
Must... resist... commenting... ahh, screw it. This film was a remake of a Norwegian film that was released a mere five years earlier. The original was a really good film. When I see Hollywood release films like this, I think the attitude must be 'here you go, you stupid Americans! Here's the f*ckin' same movie in English!'

This is not a criticism of this particular remake, however (which I haven't seen), or a commentary on those who enjoyed it (sorry, if it came off that way).

Balls of Fury
Hey, gay porn. I'm always impressed with the diversity of knowledge and opinion on display on the forum...

(sorry- was a petite joke...)

In the end, if you really think about it, the only movie that matters is....

REPO MAN

Great films mentioned by everyone!!!!

Here are a few of mine that I don't think have been mentioned yet that left an impression...

On the Waterfront ("I could have been a contender.")

Miller's Crossing ("The old man's still an artist with a Thompson.")

Blade Runner ("All those memories lost like tears in rain...")

Conan the Barbarian ("What is steel compared to the hand that wields it.")

I gave up about 3 posts back on quoting and responding to those I have an' those I havent.

Don't give up, sweetheart. We'll help you get thru your film inadequecies.

I have Netflix, and I only get 2 at a time.. (heh.) ..Anyways.. It'll take forever to get through all those titles. Sheeeiiittt.. Whatever happened to reading a book?

Another idea is to go hunting on YouTube. There are a few movies on there that people have uploaded, albeit in sections due to YouTube's 10 minute limit.

Worst case scenario, you can check out trailers or certain scenes from movies, then decide whether you want to rent them or not.

You know, I'm almost tempted to go through these lists and tally up exactly how long it will take you to view all the movies you haven't seen, for no reason other than my own curiosity. What a nerd am I....:xpulcy:

The last movie I saw was Charlie Chaplin’s “The Pilgrim” in its theater debut, so I already know the answers to my list … 😛
