Hey guys and gals, remember this toon?

Well a comic auction house sold the actual issue for between $272.00 and $375.00 back in july of this year. Amazing that this particular comic book would command such a price among collectors. Just thought you all might be interested.

No my DareDevil...

As far as I know Daredevil didn't come around until the 60's, and he wore a Yellow and Red costume back then. This guy is called "Death-Defying Devil'. How do I know that you may ask? Because it just so happens that Alex Ross is revamping him for a title called "Superpowers" for a copany called Dynomite. They also handle Xena, Red Sonja, The Lone Ranger, Army of Darkness, and The Boys (by Garth Ennis). The story is in Wizard Magazine 194.

There was a Daredevil in the '40s, completely unrelated to Marvel's. In my Encyclopedia of Superheroes this one is listed as Daredevil (1), while Matt Murdock is Daredevil(2). The '40s Daredevil's alter ego is Bart Hill, and he was initially unable to speak because of the childhood trauma of seeing his parent's murdered(shades of Batman), and adopted a boomerang as a weapon of choice.

Does that clear up any confusion?

By the way, any idea what the story is about? Wonder if it involves torture in general or just tickle-torture? In any case, the bad guy looks pretty wicked...

Since Marvel owns the name "Daredevil" now, Alex Ross had to alter the name. How cool would that be to see a Ross version of that pic? Ah, we can dream, cant we?

Thanks Midnight Mage, for the wikipedia info.

Hope some of these folks appreciated your find as well.

Guys, this is legit. There was indeed a Golden Age Daredevil, and more info can be found here ...

Thanks to hootus for reposting this old classic.

I wasn't claiming this wasn't legit Mage, my point was this isn't the DD of Marvel Comics, and that if people like the look of the charactor he will be returning through Dynomite, though I don't know if there will be any tickling.

Well if you have a couple of bucks to spare and a copy of that pic take it to a convention and he will do his vertion of it 🙂.

I actually read that comic. There's no tickling in it at all. Why it's on the cover is anyone's guess.
